2 door badlands 2.7 lux non squatch, 2k miles so far. My normal drive I have gotten 18.5 mpg hand calculated. Towed a 3k pound 5x8 enclosed trailer from PA to Myrtle Beach, About 600 miles, avaeraged 14.3 mpg for the trip. Worst tank was 13.5 mpg, best tank was 15.5 mpg. I tried to use eco mode towing, but cruise control let the speed setting drop way too much so I stayed in normal mode. Set cruise at 65 to 75 depending on traffic. The worst tank was basically all at 65 mph.

All things being equal weight is going to be something like 1%+/- MPG per 100lbs of vehicle weight. (heavy tires, heavy roof vs. soft top, bash plates, bumpers, cargo etc...).

The 2.7 will handle more weight more efficiently, and at some point becomes the more efficient engine in this vehicle.

Rolling resistance of tires, and roof racks (aerodynamics) will also have noticeable effects.

I'd imagine a 2.3 2 door base stripped down, street tires, fastback soft top , with an air damn / front skirt to, prevent air from going under the rig (and or actually lowering the suspension) would get close to 30MPG with gentle driving and 25 normal driving.

I used to hyper-mile which is mostly driving techniques, but stripping weight and doing some DIY aerodynamic (think like what you see hanging off the top of the back of semitrailers and the side skirts they put on them) mods can net 10%+/-.

I could get 48 MPG out of a stock 1991 Civic hatchback... I could have broke 50 had I wanted to strip the interior I have no doubt.

Probably 16.5 mpg on the average over the last 4k miles.

I commute mostly on the interstate at 70 mph or so, but with some stop-and-go when I get close to work in the morning. I am getting 16-17 on most tanks. The dash says 17.1 mpg, but the trip readout for each tank does read consistently 0.5-0.8 higher than what I calculate at the pump. However, I filled up this morning, the dash trip readout was 16.9 and I calculated 16.9, so maybe it is learning?

19.1 on 2.3L 4 Door Big Bend - non squatch, currently at 4400 miles. I probably drive highway 70% of the time. I’ve experimented with eco mode a little and it does help a bit, but I mostly forget to hit the ok to re-enage it when I start up again.

In normal mode I get around 32 mph at 40-42. Speed limit is 35 for that ride to work.
my average city is 22-24 all around 35-40 mph.
highway at 80 around 14-15.
Have not tried eco and I don’t think Baja counts when locked in at 3.5k.

2 door 2.7 BLS.

Oh man, I would not be ok with that. A reason I was thinking of replacing one of my older 4x4s with a Bronco, was to improve mpg for longer trips. Hoping it's just that you have a lead foot?
That's me also. I know/knew the Bronco would not be a gas friendly vehicle. However, I would have been more than happy with 20 mpgs hwy from my (not built yet) 2.3L more door OBX. But, looking at "Fuelly" that doesn't seem to be the case. We were wanting our Bronco for a long trip vehicle, along with some DD duties. I've got some thinking to do for sure.

I really gave up looking, I think it was 20mpg the last time I looked on a 2.3 auto non-Sasquatch 2dr. I certaining didn't buy the Bronco for MPG. I've got a hybrid Maverick that is supposed to be built this week, I said in the Maverick forum if I average out the two vehicles I'll have decent mileage :)

So now that I’ve removerd the stock muffler and put on the flowmaster outlaw I’m getting 23 mpg.
Which is a common hypermiler technique of removing weight.
