Ran direct to the battery.
Cool, thanks for the info. I was debating using an aux switch/run for this though looks like it needs 15a, so that would burn up one of the two highest powered circuits available. And I can't imagine I'd even want to use the aux switch to turn it on and off (just power off via the handheld if anything) so straight to battery might make the most sense for me as well. Did you find a source for accessory power that's only available when the vehicle is running?

No. It's full-time hot. I power on and off with the mic.

ok this turned out way better than I expected so I had to share. I'm mounting the remote cat5 connector near the window switches. The other dial there is for my sub-amp.

Very nice. Where did you get the cat5 connector with the cover?

Yes, I've contributed to that thread, but it is mostly about the MXT275, not the MXT 575. I already have the 275 installed and did a YouTube video on it. I searched MXT575 in the forums, but don't see where anyone has actually installed one yet or mention how they plan to install it since it is over twice the size of the 275 model.
I installed my 575 a few weeks ago. I’ll send pictures when I get back to my house but I wound up putting it in the center consul. Mounted an NMO antenna just near my ditch lights. wire run down center tunnel and enter armrest / storage bin thru the rear - removed covers - you can’t see a thing.

edit - mounted new Midland Ghost Antenna on trailsight passenger side using trailrax mount. Drilled out the mount to accommodate NMO mount.

Look good - not sure if 4 door has the room below to accommodate.

OK not sure if all these pictures will post in order but here’s what I did. I mounted the GMRS in the center consul. It’s still in the factory bracket so it’s easily removable. To get power to the unit I took the back of the console off where the two rear window switches are. (Pull it straight back - only clipped in)

I tapped into the powerline for the 12 V lighter that’s already there.
I guess if you don’t wanna tap that wire you could certainly just plug the unit right into the lighter socket that’s already in the consul.
I bought one of the organizers for the consul and you can see I placed it over the radio, and drilled a hole that’s large enough for me to unplug the microphone while the cover is in place. There’s already a notch cut in the consul for a wire to exit so it’s the perfect place for the microphone line to run. The control head, or microphone, I just leave hooked on the molle panel on the consul.

I ran both the antenna line out the same hole that I drilled in the bottom of the consul. If you were looking at the back of the consul from the rear of the vehicle facing to the front of the truck I drilled it in the furthest right lowest area so the hole for the antenna actually comes in underneath where the radio is mounted. You can’t see it.
From there I kept the antenna wire under the consul trim all the way up through to the dashboard out the front by the master cylinder and you can see where I mounted the antenna. I made a quick bracket to mount it to the same area where my ditch lights are.

My bad. That photo made it look smaller. I like the hole cut you did. May consider adapting that to mine as well. what size hole is that?
