Yes, it’s another “my dealer said….” Post but I seem to get far more reliable info here so throwing this out there…

I went to the dealer Saturday with a couple build sheets to talk to my guy about submitting the best chance to get built in my lifetime options.

He was not available but another sales person got to chatting and told me friday they got an email from ford stating that on Mar. 27th it is not “customer can order what they would like day” but instead dealers can only pick from vehicles already slated for production stock. So in other words, pick one as close to an order as possible but unless your lucky your not getting everything you want.

He didn’t have any details yet (surprise surprise) as they were meeting this week to talk about it.
Anyone Ford folks in the know hear anything like this?
My cynical side is wondering if he told me this and how there will basically never again be the ability to special order a Bronco just get me to buy the “one of a kind” base level BB Bronco they have sitting in the showroom (and present on every ford lot it seems) with $12k ADM in it.

"My dealer said..."

Ford has publicly stated that they want to shift to a build-to-order for all models and are committed to do so. What most likely happened is the salesrep is playing the telephone game with the bits and pieces of info he was given. Such as current constraints and dealers given a breakdown of how many hard tops, how many lux packages, how many WT's etc, that they will be able to order.

Limited ordering choices when it does open back up is highly likely. Ford will do anything they can to avoid having orders roll over or to have an idle factory line waiting to build orders with a bunch of constrained items. Now- how Ford can still have constrained options two years after starting production- that's a different question.

Tim (FordVideGuy) said last week there would be restrictions but the details were not yet released. I'd watch his livestream tomorrow evening to see if there are any updates.

People need to be ready because when they reopen, it will most likely only be for a short time until they sell out for MY'23. Most everyone should be scheduled by then so that doesn't leave a lot of excess production to fill for the rest of the MY.

My dealer also said that Oder banks opens 3/27. We will see.
pretty crazy it’s been almost a year that retail/customer orders have been closed, yet dealers around here have a lot of recenttly build dealer ordered stock.
bought my base two door last week from dealer stock order.

Maybe. There are still about 15,000ish orders to schedule- most of those probably carrying multiple constrained options with only two scheduling days left before the 27th.

UPDATE- only one scheduling day left now that it is specialty scheduling only this week.

I would assume, possibly wrongly, that there is a lot of pent up demand for the Bronco since the banks have been closed for about a year. The Maverick went through a similar situation and sold out in a week and then the banks were again closed. Different price level but possibly a preview into what to expect.

For sure- but I don't see Ford opening up all the constrained options and trims on the 27th

Oh for sure, that's what I said. There will absolutely be restrictions but as of last week, there were still no details on what they are.

Safe to assume its WT trims and all of the deadly sins- Lux, SQ and MICs

I look for anyone wanting a hard top and ordering when orders open up will be out of luck for a 23.

Possibly but it's not like they are done making Broncos with the constrained items. SAS for instance was short but they could still build 4 out of every 5 ordered. Hard to say how they would be able to set up new orders though so people were not stuck with unbuildable configurations. Maybe Ford will provide each dealer with a certain allocation of each constrained item and when they hit that number, no more orders for that particular option?? Guess we will see what unfolds in the next few weeks.

I’ve passed on a couple local Broncos that were real close to my build sheet but I just can’t find it in me to pony up $10k ADM.

I’m not looking for a higher trim level either, SAS is about the extent and I hear tires are the constraint there, but we shall see.
If I don’t get in this round not sure the next step. I love Jeeps but building a wrangler equivalent of a 2dr BD SAS is pricey!

If I am not mistaken, I think they did something similar already. Not a specific constraint allocation but instead, a percentage of each constrained item (WT, Squatch, MIC and Lux) that would be able for a dealer to order based on their remaining MY23 allocations. I remember FVG talking about it maybe 4 weeks ago saying they received the info. He then, ever so quickly, flashed the paper on screen and speculated the percentages were for his dealership and others were probably different.

Edit. Existing orders (from before the last few rounds of scheduling) had to fit within those percentages as well so each dealer will probably receive updated percentages when the banks finally do open up.
