I'm not a winch guy....but this could change my mind. Perfect, assuming it's attached to the frame and not just the bumper.

I agree with there being significant differences. However, the only add-on winch mount I've seen on the market is the @JcrOffroad option, so I used their choice for comparison to the Warn/Ford Performance option.

If you look at Warn's and Ford Performance's instructions for installation of their kit, you'll see several additional pieces that I feel add more overall strength to their winch mount. For example, the clevis mounts that replace the recovery tow hooks are reinforced to the frame using an adapter and two existing bolts. In addition, a second nut is attached to the adapter bracket for additional reinforcement. Lastly, the frame rail bracket is replaced and reinforced by a new frame bracket with other brackets and bolts.

@JcrOffroad's option comes with two replacement "shackle tabs" and looks to reuse the three bolts that mount the bumper to the frame. Unfortunately, this is the only support for their winch mount plate. So, some concerns about the overall strength of this setup.

Hopefully, @Mabett is looking at additional reinforcement pieces rather than only the three bolts used to mount the bumper to the frame.
Exactly^

Those where my observations. The holes in the from horns are oversized. The JCR (and other bumpers) rely upon the washers not pulling through.

Maybe they are right? Maybe I am worried too much.

LOD does offer frame brackets as an add on. They state that they are needed if you want to flat tow. Seems like those brackets would work with most aftermarket bumpers. I would add those as a no brainer to every install. https://lodoffroad.com/products/2021-bronco-black-ops-front-bumper-frame-tie-in-brackets

I like where this is going! Bull bar would be preferred, removeable or not. I don't have a front camera, front parking sensors, or ACC. Looking forward to seeing more details on specs, safety, and pricing.

Definitely interested in this or anything I can run as a part time option. I have a base, so don't care about cameras or sensors, and don't care about the bull bar either way if I'm only running it part time. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product and the price tag.

I inquired about JCR design choice over ford and the strength / tension on load difference between the two designs.

They only thing they told me is "We have direct experience with the ford mount. We design our mount based on 19+ years of building aftermarket winch bumpers."

Not exactly sure if ford is over engineering or if they actually lab tested and concluded it was needed.

Yep^ I have no idea what is right... but I do believe that bracing can't hurt. If I was in the market, I would buy the JCR winch mount and add the LOD braces behind the frame horns.

it will rattle
Does it matter if you are only using it when off-roading? I guess it could given the popping top drove me crazy. I can't see how you could only use pins, but I am good either way. Just let me be able to take it on/off easily.

It could be bolted from the bottom

A couple of thoughts on this. I really want it.. especially if you address camera, parking sensors, and ACC issues... but hoping it's super solid.

If ever in doubt when engineering, never decide that something doesn't need reinforcement.

When testing, always assume it's going to be torqued ridiculously hard in every way conceivable (and even some you think are absolutely impossible).

A reputation for indestructibility will result in lots of Mabett functional accessories for the gazillions of Broncos Ford has promised to build. Bad news about failures will spread quickly.

Love your stuff. I pick up my Bronco this evening... so it's time to open my personal Mabett account at the bank.

Can you do a hidden winch mount that won't rot away over time like the one from Rough Country? Everything they seem to make rusts terribly.

interested as well with one for the modular bumper that has no bull bar, doesnt block ACC, and retains camera, or camera relocation bracket. Nice Work

I am definitely interested in this. I already have a Bull bar, but I can't seem to mount a winch on my existing 2.7l 2door using a hidden winch mount. My only option seems to be an entirely new bumper, or this.

Very interested. Need to see a camera view. I have a feeling the bar might interfere but if it doesn’t I’d like the bar. I would buy.
