Hello all,

Currently I have a 2018 JLUR. As expected, it’s been a nightmare with a blown engine at 67k, and electrical issues that took an electronics engineer (me) to figure out over the course of 6 months. No dealer could.

Anyway, I’d love to get something with the Sasquatch package because I use the locking Diffs for beach and off roading, and I’d like the 2.7. I really wish Ford would put the 5.0 in as I’m a V8 guy, but that’s another topic for later.

I’m curious though as to the longevity of the 2.7, as well as any electrical bugs that Ford has. I also work as a Paramedic, and our response expeditions have the 2.7 in them. We seem to go through Turbos and waste gates on a monthly basis. Granted, these trucks get beat so it’s a tough comparison, but I wanted to see how the normal every day guy/gal has made out with it. Thankfully the transmissions have been fine, and we’ve had a few electrical bugs, but nothing major.

We also have 2 new explorers for command vehicles with the 2.3. A bit anemic for my tastes, but seem to work well so far without the turbo issues of the 2.7. The only issue I constantly experience is the Sync system downright freezing up, and it takes about 15 minutes of the truck being off to reset same.

Again, just looking for some input on longevity. After my JLUR experience, I’m hoping Ford has something better to offer. If not, I may have an older SUV rebuilt from the frame up. Thank you.
