I know I'm late to the party here, but I can add another data point to the group.
My beadlocks do not get close to metal-to-metal contact. I do not have issues with leaks. I did have an issue where the bolt heads on 2 bolts next to each other on 1 wheel sheared off. I think the bolts fatigued due to cyclic loading from improper initial tension.
The Ford Performance bolts are grade 10.9 and my puny butt wasn't able to drill them out with a Dewalt and Harbor Freight drill bit set. That's when I remembered I already work for a living to pay for stuff so I just took the wheel to my favorite tire shop (Dino's Tire and Wheel). They failed to get the bolts out too, so they sent my wheel to a local machine shop (Helix Metalworks).
Here is one of the most boring videos on the internet, but it is my Bronco wheel getting fixed that you see. I also take no offense to the derogatory names he called the previous person that tried to work on them.
