Hey friends, tried googling it didn't find much.

Seemingly randomly my bronco started making a knocking sound whenever going over uneven terrain fast or making a turn

The noise seems to be coming from the lower portion of the driver side door or below that or near the foot rest.

It's hard to tell, other than the noise I can feel a little thump you're my left foot while driving whenever I make one of these maneuvers

I can't seem to replicate it when I'm not moving by putting pressure on the driver side seat floor etc. I looked under The car didn't see anything loose. I'm not sure if it's coming from the lower portion of the door or inside the kick panel or what.

I know it's impossible to diagnose with just that information so I was wondering if maybe this had been a common problem at all.

For reference I have a first edition. I'm going to be taking the doors off in a few weeks and I guess depending on if the noise is still there that will eliminate the door being the issue

I’ve noticed this in the past couple of weeks as well on my ‘21 (2.7L). Mine feels like it’s the DS footwell / floor board. Def interested if others have had a similar experience.

Ah it drives me crazy. I'll let you know if it's the doors. But it does feel like it could be under the floorboard as well.

Obviously mine is a 2.7 21 as well.

Take the door off and drive to see if the sound occurs.

Did you double check you front coil over top plate nuts in the shock tower? The three nuts may be loose and causing the knock sound while on uneven terrain.

Suspension was originally my thought but then it felt like it was coming from the door too much.

Is this something I could visually examine with the hood open or will I have to take the wheel well protector rubber out. Or can I look under the car?

In the attached diagram would it be part 7 nuts?

@Arealhuman
Yes you can take a wrench to all three without removing anything. At the top of the coil over there is a felt flap that is part of the wheel liner. You just lift up on that flap and all three nuts are visible and able to check for tightness.

Idk if you just took these, but thank you so much for going out of your way.
I've attached pictures. Mine looks nowhere near as clean. I guess Winters in the north have taken a toll. But it looks like the screw isn't an issue. I'll be taking the door off in the next week or two.
