Get out of the city and away from all phone service. This is an adventure machine. If you are purchasing a Bronco you should think survival and worst case scenario. Not leaving the mall in your Dockers using a cell phone app. think in ways you may need to enter when your life or kids life depends on a secure structure.
Say you are tent camping with your favorite girlfriend, Both in the same sleeping bag, if you know what I mean. Jeans off and all of your cool gadgets, (fob phone app if you even have cell service in your adventure away from the mall) are in your pockets and a bear starts to enter your tent. you make a mad run for the Bronco and realize your are in your boxers or less. then hit the key pad and jump in. no worries right?? just put it where it works and less obtrusive.

We have it on our Edge and I can count on one hand the amount of times we’ve used it so we didn’t opt for it on our Wildtrak.

Something about locking your keys in your own vehicle on purpose just seems like a bad idea to me for some odd reason.

If it's hard wired I'll buy it from the factory. If it's a stick on battery powered thing I'll probably get it later to relocate it.

Is standing next to your car like you’re at an atm, keying in a code like a nerd worth the time it takes just to not carry keys with you?
Yup. Ever gone hiking or kayaking with keys in your pocket? Is stressful and not fun. You can be the nerd that goes to Ford to replace your keys at $250 a pop.

Yeah I get that. With a soft top too... I'm thinking the trailer hitch vault thing previously mentioned for your key and valuables and the code thing just to keep your truck locked will be prudent.

I would have gotten if hard wired as well. I don't trust the ones that are not hard wired enough to lock my keys in the car hundreds of miles from home on an outdoor adventure without a well hidden hideaway key somewhere on the frame. Much more likely to skip the keypad and just lock them in hitch or use a hide away key on the frame somewhere.

EDIT: I did not know it was just a stick on, saw a picture with just a black box on the door and thought it looked awful in my opinion (like an afterthought). Since it's dealer installed, I'll probably just ask for them to program and I'll stick it in another spot like behind the spare tire, or somewhere not as visible.
Must have option. I've only used it once in the last 4 years but W/O it...I was stranded, Fob & Cell in-vehicle, locked door!!!

Saw this picture on another forum (Ranger), hope ours fit, if not I'll probably mount it on the inside of the roof rail or anywhere out of sight. he removed the cover but others are reporting they didn't have to remove the cover to make it fit... Will be easy to remove it and re-stick it.

I’m tempted to get it just so it reminds me of mid 90s Eddie Bauer’s.

I still dont understand why they didnt put it in this area. This part stays attached to the vehicle with or without the top/doors. they could have nicely integrated the keypad in a vertical arrangement here...

I was going to order it but when I found out it was a stick-on I changed my mind. It is C$250 as an option or C$133 as an accessory. I figure for $110 I can peel the backing off of double sided tape myself.

I still don’t understand why they didn’t build it into the B-pillar like so many other models.

Since it isn't integrated, I was thinking if it is left for a dealer install I was going to have them leave it in the glovebox. I was looking at the B-Pillar location for installation with this add-on. Would be nice if the keypad numbers were available in a vertical configuration but I feel this too could be a better look.

I thought about that too I wonder if the keys can be rotated 90 degrees if you open the case

Some of the images I have seen of the internals show a single pad with the raised key pad numbers most likely to resist water. Since I am going with 4dr the lower B Pillar just above the door might accommodate the pad horizontally if it is short enough in length.
