I just installed the K&N Air Intake on my badlands, 2.7. I took it on a quick run and had no issues. Second drive, I got a Service Engine Soon notice on the dash. Only have 200 miles on the beast... I've double checked all the connections and everything is good. Has anyone else had this?

I put on a Roush CAI and have over 3000 miles on the vehicle with the Roush. Never saw this at all.

Good Luck!

edit, up to 11,000 with no issues

If it was me I’d just clear code and and see if it comes back especially if it’s driving fine with no feel of power loss. Sometimes the ecu just needs to learn the change in maf or map whatever it’s reading off of. I’m not sure which it is in the ecoboost engines. With only 200 miles the ecu is probably still learning anyways that’s a brand new bronco.

Double check you installed the filter correctly too possible it could of popped off or have a leak at the connection.

Wow sounds like it is MORE restrictive than the factory OEM setup? I have seen the K&N oil (off the filters) get on the sensors and cause issues, but this is extremely rare and unlikely.
Keep us posted as I too was going to order this setup very soon

Okay ladies and gentlemen, I finally figured it out... I tried to clear the code but it just came back... After much searching and head banging, I found that one of the clamps wasn't threading/gripping properly. So the clamp wasn't tightening around the hose properly. The tightening screw was skipping when it got to a certain level of tightness - if that makes any sense... So the clamp appeared to be tight and it felt tight, but when under pressure from the turbo, it allowed air to escape. Apparently, enough air escaped that the computer measured the differential and threw a code...

I replaced the bad hose clamp, cleared the codes, and now everything is right with the world. She runs beautifully, I have no codes, and my butt dyno says it has more power.

I am a little surprised how similar the K&N system is to the OEM setup. The airbox is nearly identical and from a surface area standpoint, the OEM filter is greater, meaning that it allows more air to flow through and capture more particulates before a reduction in airflow.

The OEM inlet to the turbo has a quarter twist that forces the air into a rotation, that presumably helps reduce turbulence of airflow into the turbo. The K&N has a smooth tube feeding into the turbo.

I put in a K&N 63-2620 Aircharger Performance Intake in my 2.3L and a week after less then 200 miles the check engine light came on. Check the lines and everything was tight. But then I saw that the ejector fitting was broken right at the elbow where it bends. I’ve contacted K&N and motoroso, who I got it from, to see if I can get a replacement for the fitting. Or what else can be done. I watched some videos and people mentioned that this fitting is way too fragile

Mine just came on after a 30 min drive. All my clamps are tight. That grommet wirh the sensor is a real POS design. Took several attempts to get the sensor inserted correctly. Also the top of the filter with the Allen screws is garbage and another poor fit.

Ya, mine turned out to be a bad hose clamp. I thought it was tight but the screw was skipping and it never got as tight as it needed to be. Once I replaced it with a much better one, the code never came back.

Another guy on here mentioned that he cracked a fitting unbeknownst to him and only found it after digging in deep. So that's another possible cause... Either way, the K&N definitely does not cause codes if it's installed properly and everything is tight.
