Hey I want to upgrade my 2.7L V6 with the Ford Performance tuner, but it is almost $700. Is it possible to borrow the tuner from someone so I don't have to spend $700 for something that is a one-time use?

You can if they give the Bronco too. Otherwise, no. It's good for one Bronco only, and don't screw it up.

Ford ProCal is VIN locked to the vehicle it is first installed on.

So you can borrow the box, but it won't do anything for you.

It isn't a one time use, it gives you the tune... Which you use every time you drive it.
It stays plugged into your car? I thought you just need to download the file to your vehicle and then you're done. I'll do more research

No, they are just saying you use the tune every time you drive, as it's loaded into the vehicle. But also, the tuner stores the stock tune so you can flash back to stock if needed.

If you could pass around tuners and use them repeatedly, then no one would ever buy the tuner, everyone would just pass them down to the next guy.

Almost all tuners upload the tune to the car and don't need to stay connected.

The issue is that the tuner is "married" to a VIN. It's essentially locked to that car and won't upload the tune to another vehicle unless it gets unlocked, which then won't work for the person you borrowed it from.

If I'm not mistaken it sounds like you still have to use it once and then never bother with it again

Correct, unless you want to revert back to the factory tune.
