Been out of the loop just patiently waiting my turn for quite a while. Now that my Bronco is in production I'm just curious if the days of vehicles being parked in lots for weeks at a time awaiting chips or whatever is still a thing?

I think it depends on your options. My build week was last week and it's already shipped, but I have a BD with the standard interior package... More bells and whistles equals more chips, higher likelihood of waiting for parts.

I’m going to guess Ford figured out what the labor and “cost of capital” (unsold inventory) was costing them to store unfinished cars. That plus the field labor to either complete them or drive them back and forth to MAP to be completed….and probably many other internal costs.

In trying to minimize those costs and also keep the assembly line running “full time”, they have asked YOU to not order constrained commodities.

I wonder what Ford’s ultimate cost was to store thousands of Broncos and finish them in the field? Could that cost have been around $2500 per vehicle?? It’s all industrial economics.

It might appear that Ford is trying to MINIMIZE that. Time will tell….

It rotates around all the different models, and markets. Last I heard superduty pickups were most affected in North America...that was a few months ago. They might be caught up now, but new delays/shortages happen all the time.

My opinion is that they aren't parking many these days. They may not have cleared out dirt/ice mountain but have gone a long way to clearing it....they just can't keep old ones there forever.

My Black diamond SAS was built on 11/17, but had a 5 week "chip hold" before it went in the delivery system.

So mine just went from "in production" to "built", if it was still waiting for some part and parked somewhere wouldn't it still show "in production"? Since I've got a lot of the constraints I'm half expecting to get pushed out further. I've been pretty hands off this whole wait time but now that it seems imminent in the short term I'm getting more excited.

No, no, no..... Ice Mountain was where Ford sat your incomplete vehicle for months on end, teasing you with a 99% complete vehicle.

Because Ford wants you to suffer through 11 layers of hell, they now ship your 100% completed rig to a railyard where it sits for months on end.
