Finally got to use my initial prototype for an interior rod rack that runs along the inside of the roof of my 2-door. It worked really well, but allowed the rod tips to shift into each other in hard turns/bounces. I'll work on a way to fix that.
The whole thing is super simple. It's just part of a rod holder strapped to the rear cross bar, and a strap that runs along the roof above the headrests of the front seats. I used the screws that go into the roll bar to mount the cross strap.
A note: this would work the same in a 4-door, but you could fit longer rods. The hard maximum in a 2-door is a 6'6" rod. My Absolute rod fits fine, but my dad's Bass Pro spinning rod mounts the reel slightly further back and has to run diagonally.
