  1. The video I watched said to run the pigtail through the top left vent in the tailgate. I did that and the pigtail wasn't long enough. After a couple tries I finally fished the wire through from the inside to the spare tire carrier and only then did I have just enough length.

For those planning to tackle this project, this is a key part. You get the wire slack for connecting the lights from the main harness, not from the pigtail/splitter. So it's key to get the main harness through the tailgate more so than getting the pigtail/splitter through the tailgate.

It’s just two more bolts than normal & a quick unplug of each light. Probably adds another 3 min to removing the spare. The two additional bolts are the same size as the lug nuts, so no additional tools from normal are needed.
Thanks, that's what I assumed, just wanted to make sure.

The lights have plugs. You unplug the lights. Then remove the bracket. Remove the lug nuts. And hopefully you had Wheaties because those spare tires are HEAVY.

I took my spare off several times trying to sort out the wiring. No need to work out anymore today.
That weight is exactly one of the main reasons I didn't go for the Sasquatch package, I have hard enough time moving around a 33" tire. But thanks, I assumed they had plugs, just wanted to make sure it didn't make a usually stressful time even worse.

The good news is that it seemed easy to get it over the camera.

I’m just hoping I’m not out of Advil. :p

I'm in the middle of this install. How did you route the wires from the grommet to the side wall? Right now the hatch door won't close.

I hated that part of the install. There’s gotta be a better way… When it’s warmer and things aren’t covered in ice around here I’ll figure it out.

Agree. Having to fish the harness down by the bumper and back up through the cargo area didn’t make sense to me at first. So I chose not to. Then I get to the step where I realized you had to because you couldn’t get the tail light trim piece back on. That was a fun time.

Agree. Getting it over the camera was pretty easy. Lining up the lugs while trying not to rest the tire on the camera was a struggle. I was out of strength a couple times and had to rest it on the camera, saying “oh shit”, but all was good surprisingly.

I also learned that if I ever have to change the spare alone, I’m going to be filthy from man handling the spare across my chest and legs.

I do want to revisit the wiring routing when I have time. I don't like wiring hanging below the frame anywhere.

Agree, but if you follow the video and route it through the frame hole and then go straight up above the exhaust shield it's a pretty tight & clean install. I can take a pick of my wiring underneath if you like.

I did that but I want to do better. The way I dropped behind the bumper has it hanging below the body mount.

Fantastic! I was just researching this exact set up this morning - there really aren't many reviews on this product, but it will be my next purchase. Do you have any night time pictures with the white floods on so I can see how much area gets lit up? Also, any pictures of your back up camera view (inside driver view looking at the display) at night with the white lights on? Thanks!!!
Looks good. How does the camera look when they are on? Does it get washed out or is it an improvement?
Sorry for the delay guys. Here are some photos of the screen with the lights on and night time photo with the floods on. The camera does not get washed out. The lights do a great job of flooding the area (again these are the less-powered Sport series).

It should be noted that these photos were not taken in a pitch black area, but rather a very dark spot in a poorly lit parking lot.

I was thinking about getting these, and from watching the video I couldn't understand why all the wiring couldn't run alongside the current wiring in the tailgate, and why the need to go under the truck and up through the storage area...

You will when you install them. It’s because the wiring will get pinched by the tailgate.

I spotted this grommet behind the taillight. Probably could use it to route the wires inside the vehicle. However, you may destroy its ability to keep out water. Maybe some tape or sealant of some kind could be used to seal it up…

Been thinking about cutting the wires in half and punching through that grommet to make the tiniest hole possible. Then splice them back together.
