Injen CAI for the 2.7L Installed!

Ok, ran the rig 2023 2.7 Wildtrack moderately on VRTune 7 with 93 Oct., Injen intake, dual Catch cans. I am impressed. no codes!!! No engine light either. I will say I had a check engine light prior to installing the Injen and it was the catch can set up but after I cleaned out the cans, left neg batt. post open for 30 min, it went away and did not come back. It may just be a away I know to clean the cans for now??

I don't know what VR tune7 is, but my dual catch cans gave me engine light. Mine also reset twice, had to have flashed by Ford. CAI caused different code, Ford replied CCV pressure sensor. So at least if you have anymore problems, you know what to do. They didn't charge me anything.

I swapped the K&N out for this one and it was definitely a more involved install process but I like the design much better. Here is a step by step video of the install if anyone is having trouble or considering the install. Hope it helps.

Good JOB! Great posting the video. As I stated on your channel, you did what I thought I was going to do when I received my kit. Lol as you see, it was a bit involved. But grats on the video. The Injen imo is worth the headache it will give you during the installation. The finished product is a step above.

Thanks man - definitely more involved than the K&N but I feel like the design was more thought out. Hope it helps those that want to give it a shot.

I think the hoses were the biggest PITA, especially since my wife broke one of the clips. Luckily auto zone had them (I was shocked). Definitely a lot to disassemble and way harder than the Injen intake on my BMW (An elbow, a hose connector and an airbox) but twin turbos are always going to be more work than single!

One big design difference I noticed was the size of the inlet on the airbox, which I tried to compare in the video. The Injen design has a much wider design, letting in more airflow. I also like the connection to the turbos on both sides a little bit better. Hope that helps.

Not that Broncos are drag cars but I d believe all the HP / TQ numbers if someone could show me either 1/8 mile or 1/4 mile before and after time slips in relatively similar air/temps.

That’s tangible, manufacturers dyno tests can be easily manipulated.

One of the differences I noticed was that there was constriction coming out of the airbox into the turbo on the passenger side. The K&N system utilized the factory tubing that was much narrower than the Injen design. The Injen connected straight to the turbo. The other big design difference I noticed was the size of the inlet on the airbox, which I tried to compare in the video. The Injen design has a much wider design, letting in more airflow. That’s just to mention a few. Hope that helps.

So the K&N does not go all the way to the turbo? Does it leave the box in the stock inlet on the driver side?

It does go all the way to the turbo. I went back and edited that a little bit. I just like the way Injen connected to both turbos a little bit better. The K&N is not a bad system though.

I have AFE CAI. They are very similar.

This pic reminded me the nightmare I had to deal with doing my install.
The OEM turbo inlet was a PITA to get it off. There is a bolt at the underside of the inlet.
Nearly impossible to get to with all the tool I had available.

Eventually it turned out great. Though to be honest, the gain is unnoticeable. Not much of sound increase either. Just ever so little when I'm accelerating. IMO, it is mainly for shows. I slapped on an engine cover just to pretty it up. haha

I'm surprised you don't notice much difference, the Injen is pretty noticeable in noise, like a heavy inhale when you're on it. I can't tell you if it makes any difference in the power but I feel like the injen in my BMW did so I don't doubt that it did in the bronco too, it's just not as noticable.
