Info on Broncos

OP, I tell folks ours is a “gas hog, noisy, hard to get into and takes expensive tires, but we love it.”. Posts # 5, 6, and 7 are right on the mark. If you’re ok with all of that, then you’ll love a Bronco.

Mind expanding on "hard to get in to" please. We have one coming in a few weeks so I'm just curious. Is it the height, opening too short and you're tall, etc. We test drove one but that's different than living with one. Since we're getting a 2Dr will the longer opening help with the issue you perceive?. I'm 5'11' and shrinking. Hurray old age . Wife is 5' 7" ish . Are steps necessary? We'll have a Big Bend, stock tires and ride height. I realize this is a bit subjective so lots of wiggle room. For example my Ram 4x4 with no lift is right at the, I don't have to have side steps but they sure are handy, limit. TIA

Zero issues in a ‘23 base Sas. Yeah, there is wind noise. It is a box. Yeah, a drop or two of water works its way in - and I never remove the top.

Keep in mind… it is what it is- a Ford Ranger with an SUV aesthetic and functionality. If I had to choose just one vehicle for me ( and I am local to where many here vacation), it would be the Bronco. Great utility. Good ride on pavement for what it is. Acceptable in snow, but no where as good as my winter driver.

I was thinking the same thing. I find my Bronco easier to get in than my f150 because of the windshield rake on the f150. At 6'3" I had to bury my head in my chest to clear the "A" pillar on the f150 but not on the good ole square Bronco. Then again I have the same problem with most modern vehicles. A stock Big Bend isn't too terrible without steps but they're always nice.

I put a step on my First Edition and added grab handles to help others get in easier. I have no problems getting in and out but some people do without the step and handle.

Also, my top does leak on the driver side when I park at a decline. Not a lot, but definitely some drips from the pillar airbag area. Took it in to the dealer they said it is usually just a fitment issue and did nothing. Since then it has rained a few times and only get drips when parked at a decline.

Hey all! Thinking about getting a Bronco. I would like to get your thoughts on some of the possible problems I have come across in learning about Broncos. Has anyone experienced leaking through the tops? Valve problems in the 6 cylinder? Excessive or annoying tire noise? Overall how satisfied are you with your Bronco?

Strange, but I haven’t seen any ask what you plan to do with a Bronco and what do you want one for?

Honestly, the answer to the above drives any feedback and should drive the decision whether or not to get one and that it’s for you.

A Bronco is an off-roader, so it’s loud, can be uncomfortable compared to standard vehicles, and yes, it can leak and there’s the list of issues. I haven’t personally had any issues with mine over this first year, but I was expecting a few.

I off-road mine and camp, often, so it’s a gem to me as I use it for the purpose it’s built for. The adventures we’ve had and memories made in just one year make my long wait and any potential issues worth it FOR ME.

If you have a reason for getting it and plan to enjoy it, don’t worry about the what ifs; those can happen at any time or you can get T-boned at an intersection, but until you do, live, drive, and enjoy how you use it.

@Dialtone and @lapazleo, my wife is 5’ 5” or so and fairly agile. She just pulls herself up and in. But that said, we’re older and our older than us occasional passengers had a hard time getting in and out. Ended up replacing the stock badlands Sasquatch rock rails with ZroadZ rock rails. If memory serves me they are 4” below floor level and just wide enough to serve as a step. Problem solved. And they’re nice to stand on when putting the top up and down.

It is louder, handles worse, has less convinces, rides worse and has a poorer interior than most any other vehicle (except Jeep) out there…yes I am more than impressed with it and drive it way more than I ever expected to…very happy I got it!

Tire noise lol.. the Bronco is not quite in the slightest. The hard top is not insulated and a roof rack will make wind noise real bad. MPG is also terrible, it's a brick. Build quality is good, but not perfect (door alignment is iffy and the hardtop is cheap). Easy to drive, goes straight, and is comfortable. I really only use it for roadtrips/camping/skiing/trails. I drive a Miata as my daily.

Overall though, great truck, lot's of fun!

Most of the big complainers in here bought theirs with expectations that were not realistic in this type of vehicle. Just be aware of what you're getting and you will be as thrilled as most of us with it....

I sold my 19 Harley Davidson Edition F150 for my 21 Badlands. I have zero regrets. I have a soft top, so there is wind noise. I also have a light bar, so I get a little whistle. I have the LUX package so I have leather, and dual climate controls which work great. On the road, I have a very smooth and stable ride. Beyond the noise, it is a comfortable ride, especially for a vehicle like the Bronco. I have no regrets about selling my F150.

Now for the part that makes the Bronco so versatile. The aftermarket support. Being a Mustang guy, I dare to say the aftermarket is even larger for the Bronco. You need something, there is a part for it, no matter how big or how small. You can make your Bronco in your image.

I think I am at Mod 25, with 26 coming next month. You can see some of my bigger mods in my sig. My Bronco is not like another Bronco, and that to me is what the allure of these vehicles is.

If you get one, you will truly enjoy it.

this will be my daily driver. i am an avid hiker so need an off road vehicle for the mountains. i also have had 3 mustang convertibles and love that the broncos can provide that as well. im basically looking for a newer vehicle (i drive a 2013 fj) that has what i want and need in a vehicle. thanks for your post.
