Bronco Sport is 36.9" vs 36.3" in the 4 door.
I knew you'd do that! lol. Just watching the vids, tho', clearly there's more space in the big one's 4 door, even the 2 door. I can't explain the math, just see what I see....

Funny you should say the Cherokee because while I was checking out the Sport,I thought it was more comparable to the Cherokee Trail Hawk than the little square Renegade.
My sister has a Cherokee Trail Hawk and it has always felt to me like the Bronco Sport was aiming at it rather than the suggestions of the smaller Compass and Renegade,

I think I would have preferred ford go afterJeep head to head instead of making the sport a “tweener.” It might not have made financial sense to do so, but more off road capable vehicles is always a plus to the customer. Here are their dimensions. The sport is the shortest in length but also the tallest. That added height gives it the most cargo volume. That’s useful if you are carrying things that are tall, but I find myself needing more square footage instead of volume. The cherokee has several inches more rear legroom and the compass beats the sport by over an inch.

bronco sport
Length - 172.7”
Width - 74.3”
Height - 71.4” (badlands)
Wheelbase - 105.1”
Rear legroom - 36.9”
Max cargo volume - 60.6 cu ft

cherokee
Length - 182”
Width - 73.2”
Height - 65.7”
Wheelbase - 106.5”
Rear legroom - 40.3”
Max cargo volume - 54.7 cu ft

compass
Length - 173”
Width - 73.8”
Height - 64.6”
Wheelbase - 103.8”
Rear legroom - 38.3”
Max cargo volume - 59.8 cu ft

It's funny that nobody ever accused the original Explorer of having a tiny back seat but it has less rear seat leg room than the Bronco Sport.

Alex on autos - great reviewer. "if I were shopping in this segment right now unquestionably the Bronco Sport would be at the top of my shopping list" .

Loved your "big hat" test. LOL. Overall, well done. Thank you for posting.

BTW, I have given some thought to getting a Sport now and then swapping for the Bronco when mine comes in (I'm a late reservation holder, so still probably more than a year out). But my little Crosstrek is perfectly fine and is worth a lot more than I owe, so that seems like a losing proposition.

I even had a bizarre dream last night that I came across a Sport when I stopped at a gas station, so I started stalking it and taking pictures and video. I guess I can chalk that up to Bronco Brain.
Thanks, its always nice to find a vehicle that passes the big hat test! lol

My daughter graduates this year (and has to "volunteer" student teach for a year ). I am encouraging her to look at the Bronco sport for her post college car! It has lots of safety features, has AWD and she gets Z plan :) She has more money in the bank than me at this point, so she can put quite a bit down.

Check out the Bronco Sport Forum. Not nearly as active as this Forum, but they have a lot of good pics and threads from members who took delivery. Seems like most just showed up at the dealer an bought one off the lot.

I sat in a Base Sport at Mullinax Apopka today. Much larger inside then I thought it was going to be. Plenty of room for a 6'2" adult like me. I might seriously consider a Badlands if I liked driving it (couldn't test drive this one) and didn’t have the dinky little Sync3 screen.

As I was leaving a truck showed up with an Area 51 Badlands. Not a fan of the color after seeing it myself (more grey than I like) but to each their own.

Photos taken with the brand new iPhone ProRAW format. I think they acruately reflect the color as I saw it with my eyes.
