To each their own I guess. I'd take the blue Defender with white roof over an FJ Crusier any day of the week, but it doesn't matter since my Bronco is being built next month.

Back in Y2K times I had an IHC Scout II cab top custom built - frankly, I wish I'd never sold it. But, a back surgery in 2003 pushed me into something with soft suspension. The IHC's cab top was light and easily swapped for a bikini top. This Bronco was engineered to have a removable top. I get that, maybe, 20-25% of people will never take the top off. But, the draw for me is that it's removable - if it wasn't I'd be shopping for vintage.

easy solution, just tack weld the bolts holding the roof to the body and use a good epoxy to glue all the roof panels on, problem solved. ;-)

If the roof didn't open up, I'd not even be looking. I doubt I'll ever take the rear shell off (unless I find a nice soft top I like), but the front panels will be off quite a bit, that's what sold me on the Bronco. I might take the doors off once to just give that a try, but there are no beaches here to drive on and any fun place is a good distance on the freeway from me, doesn't sound like fun with no doors. Plus I like my arm rest.

But maybe aftermarket someone will make an other roof. Ursa Minor is working on a top with integrated RTT for the Bronco, so that will be somewhat permanent. And you can sleep in it and get into your RTT from inside the Bronco. Expensive, but pretty much the only RTT I'd ever consider. Which I won't, because I want to open my roof and not look at a tent or roof rack or gas cans or recovery gear, just blue sky.

Why would anyone be here without the removable roof? Unless you’re just a ford/bronco fanboy it’s insanely dumb. You can go buy a 4Runner right now that will without a doubt be more reliable and cheaper.

The only differentiator is the open air experience.
