my ‘23 B/D with steelies & 30k miles just started making a howling noise when turning right today.

started after coming down a long, steep mountain highway.

I can also feel a very high pitched vibration in the steering wheel when it happens.

Pretty sure its brake related as it goes away when you hit the brakes.

Also pretty sure its heat related as well cause it doesn’t do it when cold or after long stretches of not using the brakes on the highway.

Started after one long downhill, quit after a long highway ride and started again after another downhill mountain road.

Its NOT a grind, i know what failed pads/metal to metal sounds like, its a howl, like maybe the pads are dragging.

Rotors are smooth, no gouges.

will change pads asap.

just wondering if this is a known issue. Like the caliper pins need lubed and the brakes hang up?????

I don’t remember hearing this from another car and i’ve had a lot of POS high mileage cars over the years!!!

My first guess would be wheel bearings

Maybe…. But Ive had bearing go several times before and it made noise wether the brakes were on or not.,

But it could be the bearing and the rotor is amplifying the noise when the caliper is not hushing it.

it may be a stone stuck between the rotor and disc (brake) caliper
