Looking for a concise opinion- I have WT SAS wheels. I like the looks.

But having gone up to 37s I can feel the weight a bit. I’m evaluating the possibility of new wheels to save some weight.

Searching the forum it looks like the OEs weigh in about 35#.

if anyone knows their actual offset that would be helpful as well- again searching the forum I think it’s 30mm, but I’m interested in clarification.

Forum searches also seem to show the RTR wheels might be lighter- looks good too- but can anyone confirm?

I’m definitely interested in other ideas!

The Method 705 17x8.5 +35mm wheels I have are 25.3 pounds, they show 26.6 pounds in the 0mm offset. Your stock wheels are +30mm.

(SAS wheels are +30mm offset confirmed)

I believe the lightest _cast_ wheels I've seen that work are 17x8.5 motegi trail lites @ 23.92lbs

Deepest offset is +18mm but your wheel bearings won't die tomorrow and you won't be throwing boulders with 12mm of poke

You can get (a little) lighter and (probably alot) stronger going to a forged wheel like Titan 7 but you'll spend 2x the coin

I replaced the factory beadlock capable wheels (+30mm offset) for a set or RRW 0 offset wheels. New rims are about 8.75lbs lighter each. Offset looks perfect to me. Tread still covered by SAS fenders with a bit of sidewall sticking out.

RTR EVO6 wheels weigh in at 22lbs. If you get the +30 offset wheel, it will be similar to stock, if you get the +0 offset wheel, you will have a slight poke.

I’m running the EVO6 wheels, +30 offset, on my non-SAS Black Diamond and love them.

I just picked up some Blackhorn BHO1s in +12mm offset...they are 24.7lbs. Good looking wheel IMO and CHEAP compared to others I looked at...under $900 for a set of five.

I'm running the above mentioned Motegis but with 63lb tires, and the combo is more sluggish than stock Sasquatch wheels/tires even though the total weight is very close, because the weight is farther out. In the next week or two I'm going to put the Goodyears on the Motegis and have one of the lightest combos out there for a 35, under 80lb I believe.

Thanks for the replies folks! Very informative... I am leaning toward the EVO6's or RRWs but I will look at the other options closely.

One follow on question- do you all think that I would see a significant difference in MPG/Performance by shedding 10lbs. of wheel weight? I am aware of the science of rotational mass, but I do not know the amount of weight required to see significant differences one way or the other. That's my only hesitation at this point (if I saw improved mpg of .25 g/m it would likely not be worth it, improved mpg of 1.0+ might be).

Not so simple to figure MPG's without actually running the combo. As TD stated, the position of the weight matters. Taking 10lbs off of the wheel and adding it to the tire will not be the same as a heavier wheel with a lighter tire. Both are rotational mass. The further the weight is from center the more energy it requires to move. You also have the difference in rolling resistance. A wide more aggressive tread will require more energy.

The weight that you feel with 37's is very unlikely to change with different wheels. You now have a lot more weight and farther away from the axle center which further exaggerates the weight and the feel. If you want a more nimble feel, look at your tires.

Your better off changing the axle gearing, saving a few pounds at the wheel won't do much.

Meh… the weight is the weight. I didn’t change the distance. Same wheels and spacers.

Interestingly my MPGs haven’t moved as much as I thought they would… and otherwise I am deciding between RTRs and staying stock… still haven’t decided.
