I think they save money by never changing their plates. Seems like they look the same as they did when I lived there in 1986 while stationed in Philly!

GA here too. Have had my Bronco <1 yr. I have specialty plate and the .gov site mentioned it was $35.

How did you get away with $100 in WA? 2022 ford bronco 2-door, and I paid $432 in RTA excise tax alone. Total was $560.

WTH? You in king county or something?? I’m in Snohomish and I renewed in Feb. I just looked at my registration and I actually paid $98.25. Dang, I swear it was about $110. Im not going to hate the government here any less though.

Also about $100 in Skagit county. Living beyond the RTA cuts out that fee but between the gas tax and the likely incoming pay-per-mile fee, it might be cheaper to live within the RTA if one goes to King County often.

So for the folks paying hundreds, are you also paying personal property taxes on your Bronco as well?

In Arkansas my registration was less than $50 but there was a personal property tax proportional to value which worked out to about 1% of vehicle value (about $400 for my Bronco). No such thing in Washington (and no income tax) but our schools are underfunded, the ferry system is a disaster, and we just indefinitely lost access to a quarter of Mt. Rainier NP (and an ORV park) because of a rusted out bridge so I'm not going to claim they have it all figured out here
