Unless it changed in '25 or '26, the #1 switch is 30A. But I agree - the relay is the way to goI've been looking at this as well lately. I'm curious about your findings.
As far as wire current, I don't know what the lights pull, but if it's more than the 50a #1 switch, a relay will certainly be necessary.
May not be a bad idea to run a relay regardless.
