You've had some good feedback, here. Your best bet is to find a Jeep on 35's. Drive it if you can, but at least get up close. Then go test drive a Sahara. It has the same tire and wheel rim diameter as the OBX. Even on stock tires/wheels, it may be a PIA getting in and out rubbing the back of your pants on the stock steps. If you want a larger "stance" after the stock wear out, you can always get 33's on 17" wheels. You'll get the luxury in the OBX and still all the capabilities to crawl on the beach and ride trails. Get the rear locker with 4.27 gearing. It will serve you better than the extra steel and sway bar on the BL.

The ones in the photo of the Area 51 actually appear to be the 17 black high gloss which are 995 more and those are the ones I like better than the carbonized gray painted
There you go. get the upgraded wheels. You made the case yourself by saying twice that you prefer them, done! And they do make a big difference visually and I think toward the look you are going for. Also on overall appearance and height, look at the video of door removal with the BL and 33s, it looks great and is a good compromise for you in terms of tire size-note the guy doing the work vs the climb height to enter and exit the bronco. SASQ might be too high but the video is a good point of reference. Good luck-and there are no bad Broncs!

Okay how important is it to get the Mod Top vs. Mic Top? Also is it easy to add remote start and keyless entry to vehicles?

Just beach off roading and some trails
Casey, my Jeep JL is completely stock, and it is used basically like you will use yours. It is more than capable to handle that type of off roading as I expect the stock (no mods) Bronco will be. The tough decision is do you have to have the Squatch package. Sometimes what we want is stronger than what we need. You certainly don't want to drive your new non-squatched Bronco into your driveway, and immediately start wondering if you should have gotten the squatch option. Whether you need it, or not that is gonna be your toughest decision. Good luck, I'm still having problems deciding on how I'll option my OBX. :)

Also, if you opt for the auto trans, remote start is there. By keyless entry do you mean "walk up to the door, place your hand on the handle, and it unlocks"? If it's that it will be very difficult, and expensive to do that after the build. Or, do you mean just pushing the button on the remote to unlock? If it's that I think they all come that way.

There are a lot of aftermarket remote start options out there, but aftermarket keyless entry seems extremely difficult... you're talking adding solenoids for all the locks, plus all the wiring, and I don't know how it could even be wired in to the existing system.

Yeah sorry, I knew which wheels you meant but I got the names backwards. The $995 upgrade option has a carbonized beauty ring around the edge. That is what I was referring to. This matches up nicely with the other accents on the Badlands.

I would also like to add that usually aftermarket remote start options add an extra keyfob to your keychain. It wont be build into your existing keyfob. So you will be carrying extra bulk on your keys. My brother had this and it seemed like a real PITA.

2.7L BD sas could weight upwards of ~5,250 lbs. Keep that in mind if Ford caps GVWR under 6,000.

I think Ford pass app can auto start an automatic. So You don't need any trim besides base to do that.

For your described use, and wanting MGV seats, I would think the Black Diamond would fit the bill taller tires look cool no doubt, but you wont need them, and you might get sick of climbing in and out of it.

Most people are trying to build super Bronco's to do what people used to do with cars and never think twice about it.

I would answer this question to yourself. Are you willing to damage your vehicle doing some more extreme off roading? If the answer is no, then any trim will suffice, and you are buying anything more for emotional reasons. That doesn't mean buying for an emotional reason is bad, but it is no longer a needs question, and instead a want question. No one can help you with want questions, as much as we all wish someone could help us with those.

I am not willing to damage my new Bronco, so I will not be doing any moderate to extreme rock crawling, nor will I be driving through a mud bog to show I can. Both of these activities are hard on rigs.

Pick out a color you like, after that, honestly it wont matter.

Correct. However, with the Sync3 system, Ford Pass is not compatible with Android Auto but is with Apple Car Play. It has yet to be known if Sync4 has corrected this issue. Just a word of caution if you have come to use and like AA.

I can remote start my '17 Escape with my Android phone, so I don't think that's accurate.

Do you have Android Auto enabled on the Sync3 in your Escape? When I try to enable Ford Pass on my 2016 King Ranch with Sync3 it tells me I must first disable Android Auto.

When I plug in my Android phone, it does indeed start up Android Auto. I use it 90% of the time so I have decent traffic data because it's crazy around here. That seems odd you have issues, and I indeed have Sync 3 (double checked).

Lol I only ask the age question because years ago I bought a new Jeep. Loved it. But with slight hearing loss ( more in the right ear) and road noise- I could not hear my wife talking. I sold it after a year. But I still loved the feeling of driving around in that Jeep.
Cannot wrap my head around why this is not a + ... :D ...

my decision process so far

- reserve BD (2nd day), has everything I want 7MT, MGV, rear locker, and (presumably) optional front locker
- B&P out, front locker on BD requires SQ, I want 7MT and can live w/o it
- I like the modular hard top, can get that with BL and also locking front, decide on BL
- mod hard top is late availability, move back to BD and save some $$
- mid pkg would be nice, but I want the 7MT, move back to BL
- high and lux pkgs are also nice, will splurge and get both
- don't really need all the extras, BD is enough, move back and save some $$
- I like the steelies, not sure I want them on a $40k truck and 32s might be a tad too small, move back to BL
- don't really like the BL stock wheels, but like the upgrades, spend more and get them
- mid pkg is a bargain, throw that in too
- sleep on it, I don't really need all that extra stuff, still like the steelies, back to BD

BD 2.3, 7MT, advanced 4x4, steelies it is!

until I change my mind again
