Help! What is this interior protrusion?

I can’t figure out what this square protrusion is in the rear storage area, 2 door, drivers side. Probably obvious and I’ll be embarrassed for asking, but can someone enlighten me? Am I missing a piece?

When you take the hard top off that is where you will secure the wiring for the rear wiper/washer harness.

Yup. A quick "what is this" thread title search yielded 30% of the top ten results (excluding your thread) wondering the same thing. All of which are current from this year. These retainer clips seem to be one of the most confusing aspects about Bronco ownership.

You have to force it in, but just the tip, and don't push too hard or all the creamy filling will shoot out. It's not really a concern if you keep it in the bag though.
