315/70r17 calcs out to 34.4.

Then you get some squish when it’s loaded down. So that’s even shorter then

So yeah, it’s not really 35”. But - most people still call it a 35. Maybe we are just lying to ourselves. Maybe I use the same ruler that my wife claims measures 4.5” out to 8.5”. I’m still claiming 8.5.

I’m ok calling it whatever - even if I am lying to myself.

People can call 315's as a 35 if they want but I'll continue to correct them as it's a pet peeve of mine.

The other poster called me, and the other person out more than once, who were correcting his false info. He then decided to doubled down on it.

I go off of real world numbers when the tire is aired up and under the vehicle weight and load. That is where you'll notice a rather large difference between a 315 and a 35..

Most 315's are barely 33" tall under those conditions.. Sure a 35 is not a 35 as shown in my measurements and most will find that a 37 is not a 37" but a 35 and 37 are usually pretty close. A 315 is nowhere even close.

Yes, the speedometer will be incorrect if you change from 315's to 35's.. Not but much, I'd guess that at 70MPH you'd be off a few MPH..

Sold my five with only 600 miles in for $950. I live on gravel roads & wasn't happy with the horrible popcorn machine my truck sounded like, even after hitting the pavement. Went with Toyo OC AT3 35x11.50s with 1.25 spacers. They are almost as light as the GYs and are 10x better as far as rock chucking. Also added front flaps which should help save the side of the truck.

How is the noise with the Toyo AT3? I am contemplating the same tire, in either 12.5 or 11.5 width.

Don't even notice them, but the wind noise does drown out anything else lol. Just be aware the Toyo OC AT3 12.50s are even lighter than the 1150s due to a thinner sidewall and a lower weight rating. I felt the 11.50s were perfect for my setup with a spacer (I am using 1.25" since I didn't know at the time that 1" would've worked with the factory alum wheels w/o any lug shaving). If I had to do it all over again, would go with the same 11.50 tire & a 1" spacer.

Thanks, I noticed the weight being different as well with the widths. I will most likely stay with the 12.5 width. Curious if staying with 12.5 will help the speedometer be accurate vs downsizing to an 11.5.

My OEM Goodyear tires have really started to howl once they hit 15,000 miles. I’ve done regular rotations with all 5 tires. I can’t stand the noise at all, having a conversation with someone sitting in the back is difficult at any speed above 40 MPH.

I had Toyo AT3's and they were fantastic! I have since changed to 35x11.5R17 Falken Wlldpeak AT4W's (C rated) and they are also fantastic!

IMO, you can't go wrong with either tire.. As far as road noise goes, I don't notice them but I am old, hard of hearing and I also usually have my radio on...

Have Bora 1.75" spacers on my Ford Performance Beadlock Wheels. I also have DV8 fender flares that are about in-between regular Bronco flares and the Sas flares. It gives a little bit of poke for a more aggressive look...

Going from an 11.5 to a 12.5 (or vise versa) will not affect the speedo..
