GOAT question for a 2022 Black Diamond

If my Black Diamond is capable of having all the GOAT modes enabled without any additional hardware costs, why did Ford choose to NOT install the Baja mode when they built my vehicle? What am I missing here? Thanks.

Because technically the suspension cannot handle the anticipated loads of driving Baja style. You can add anything you want with Forscan.

My Black Diamond has the Sasquatch package so that means it has the HOSS 2.0 suspension. Isn't that the same suspension on the Badlands that came with the Baja mode enabled? So my Black Diamond with the Sasquatch package should be fully "Baja GOAT worthy", right?

Not even close. Someone else suggested it was like sport mode on steriods, and that's a fair description of Baja Mode.

Those who think that the GOAT modes are a gimmick don't understand what the GOAT modes really do. The GOAT modes change parameters that we can't change through other means.

Also, anyone can add all the GOAT modes, so if you don't have them, that's because you haven't wanted to enable them with FORSCAN.

The differences between Sport and Baja are Baja selects 4H and allows the front diff to be locked and sets no limiting speed on locking the rear diff. Throttle response is set to aggressive and steering to tight on both. I haven’t seen how the shifting is mapped on any goat mode. My sources include Bronco6g, Bronconation, and CJ Pony Parts.

Except far Badlands Sport mode - which I can’t fathom / the rest of the trims remove modes because they may not have all the hardware and to fit the “motif” of the trim package, which gives dealers another chance to upsell

once you enable them on your BD, the Baja is just Sport mode in 4H - GOAT modes are nothing crazy that you couldn’t do yourself by hitting the right buttons. If you enable a mode you don’t have the hardware for (like Rock Crawling with no sta-bar or lockers) it won’t complain or anything - it’s just 4LO with slightly different steering

Don't really see the Badlands as any exception. If you don't have Rock Crawl mode in the Desert runner, why add Sport mode to the Rock crawler?

Well, even if you don't have all the required hardware, Baja and Crawl work with regards to remapping everything else.

Baja mode definitely holds gears a lot longer, downshifts sooner, and revs higher than sport mode; to the point that I wouldn't daily drive it that way and I am not the type of person who is shy of reving out the motor.

For me, 4A sport mode is my preferred daily driver mode. Off-road, I do enjoy using Baja mode, especially on the beach.

Mud and Ruts and Sand mode wants front and rear lockers also, and was available on every trim except the Base. I agree with you as far as upselling and somewhat on motif both of which would make sense leaving Baja off the Bronco's supposed Rock crawler.
