Hi All,

-25' 4 door heritage 2.7 sas package-

My fuel gauge and distance to empty value are not working properly. It's been at the dealership for three days and they 'cannot replicate the issue'. Here is the breakdown:

I fueled up to full and drove about 300 miles. The fuel gauge during this time was reading 98%-100% most of the duration and then suddenly dropped to 75%. The DTE (distance to empty) was reading 398 as soon as I fueled up and was bouncing around 396-398 for quite some time (maybe 100 miles or so?) then dropped to 268, I think this happened when the fuel gauge started reading 75%. For the remaining drive (about 150-200 miles), the DTE bounced between 268-272.

I'm at a loss on how I can communicate this to the dealership. The only thing I can think of at this point is when I go to refuel (less than a mile from the dealership), it should take about 5.8 gallons to top it off based on the current fuel gauge reading 72%. If it doesn't then I can show them the receipt and a photo of the gauge % at time of refuel.

Looking for any advice/suggestions.

Thanks,

I don't have any suggestion how to get your dealer to understand the issue but for any tech issues I'd try disconnecting the battery for several minutes and reconnect.

Appreciate the input. I will try this out when I can. I also noticed the ford app is showing an active recall for the 'Instrument panel cluster software update' which states the whole thing can show a blank screen on start up. Not what I've experienced at all, but wonder if the fuel gauge issue could be a side effect? They're handling the software update today.

Hmmm, not sure if the update will have any affect on the fuel gauge but possible. Interested to know the results.

So I filled mine two days ago, drove over 100 miles & noticed it hadn't dropped at all.
Then it lowered in chunks to what I think was an accurate level.
I stopped at the store & when I turned it back on, it went to complete empty.
I filled the tank again & it showed full.
This morning, it went to zero again, then back to full within a minute.
But I have a PCM error showing.
I'm going to disconnect the battery tonight for a while to see if it clears.

Ok so as of November 24th, there was an active recall sent out for a digital cluster malfunction. This affected my rig and was causing my fuel gauge issue that I described earlier. Dealership ran diagnostics, said they couldn't replicate any issues with the fuel gauge discrepancy. I had to tell them to take care of the recall because why would they think to do that while my Bronco was already in the shop???? Got it back, filled it full and drove until 1/4 tank and it accurately displayed MTE and fuel tank levels. So that seemed to solve my problem and I think you should do the same if your rig is affected by the cluster recall.

Edit: Forgot to mention, they left my skid plate half fucking loose and didn't notice until I was on a dirt road, 200 miles later...

ok. seems my issue may be unrelated then.
I have a 2022. No recall the gauge cluster. (I do have the fuel pump recall).
Also, did yours ever go to complete zero when you knew it had fuel?
