I placed my reservation 9/20. In March I placed my order with Billy Albright. Through our discussions he assured me MSRP price. My order was pushed to 22 and just last week I finally got my VIN, then the following week I was notified they would charge a markup of $5000. I sent my Price Protection number that Ford gave me to my salesman and his response was all of our vehicles are priced over MSRP. I called Ford to make a complaint but now I feel like I have no options. Over a year of waiting just to be told after I finally have a VIN that they will not not honor MSRP and over charge $5000.

The price protection from Ford refers to MSRP being frozen at the 2021 model year for those people that got pushed to a 2022 model year. Not the final sales price of the bronco, that’s set by the dealerships.

The dealership always sets the final sales price not Ford, that’s why it’s called an manufactures suggested retail price. Emphasis on suggested.

Did you get anything in writing from the dealership saying you would only be pay msrp with no adm, or did the salesperson just tell you you would be paying msrp, purchase agreement or sales contract?

How did you get your "Price Protection Number"?
That just locks
ford better get control and start cutting shit dealers out.

i don't think they understand this isn't amazon selling other products, they vehicles they are selling are ford, the same name used in most dealerships.

just leave a review and call the place fucked royally by ford

edit: did you get the msrp in writing? if so, you have a strong case and can get media support.
I’m guessing this person didn’t sign a purchase agreement or sales contract saying they will only pay msrp when they ordered their bronco, if they did they would not be contacting Ford customer.

As for Ford doing something, not going to happen when it comes to adm. Ford sets msrp (suggested) and the dealerships adjust the price up or down as they see fit, adm or discount.

the real problem here is that people are placing orders with getting signed purchase agreements with the negotiated sales price. This leaves the at the mercy of the dealership when their bronco comes in.

Glad you beat me to it. These guys look like the stereotypical car dealers for sure and I'm never surprised that ANY of these stealerships are selling above MSRP.

Ford owns this issue by taking reservations directly and then allowing dealers to manipulate the sale long long after the fact.

Hindsight 20/20 but Ford should have instructed all dealers to price the car before converting the order or allowing a customer to then ’shop’ their reservation. conversely, Ford could have given its reservation holder a price negotiation sheet to use with the dealer or again allowing the reservation to be transferred.

ADM should only be for cars on the lot. It represents a premium for availability and a cost of carrying to the dealer.

With those sunglasses, it should be expected that he's going to bend you over and you're going to like it. I bet he plays in an 80's cover band on the weekends.

Dealer has been added to the Hall of Shame.

Actually got a good feeling about this one. I think they back down when the boss gets back and finds out Billy has been screwing up the dealer's reputation again. Let us know how it goes.
I agree. I think sometimes the sales guys push to see what they can get away with. Once the GM is involved they change their tune and say "my mistake". Talk to the GM on Friday. If he's in on it, then go scorched earth.

+1. The sales guy might just be fishing. To see if the OP will bite on the 5k markup. They figure why not give it a try. That is not uncommon.

The OP should try pushing back harder, and the dealership might relent. That happens all the time in vehicle purchase negotiations. My last new car purchase took 4 hours of back and forth, before 20k price got knocked down to 14k.

This is complete dealership f**kery, there is no excuse for this to continue like this - @Ford Motor Company is just being weak with regards to protecting the people who made reservations and then were promised "price protection" by Ford.

How is this price protection when they are going to charge the customer 2022 pricing (as on the sticker) and an additional $5k ADM. WTF, @Ford Motor Company?

Seriously, I get that the ADM thing is going to potentially happen with stock units, but on special order units with price protection?!? Ford's word means absolutely nothing - and that's the real shame of the whole thing.

If Ford isn't going to do anything, why did they Tweet out something along the lines of "let us handle it" (before attacking the dealer on reviews), in regards to another situation exactly like this? Are you saying Levine was lying again?

It looks like Virginia may be a "one party" state. Please confirm with an attorney first if you do this, but if you get a recording of these guys shafting you, it might be an opportunity for a local radio station to share something with an audience. Hold the recording in your back pocket, only to be used if you don't get your Bronco for the price you verbally agreed to at the outset. You wouldn't end up with your Bronco, but you might save others from a similar fate.
