Recently upgraded my speakers from non-B&O. Replaced rear pods and front speakers, add AudioControl LC5-1.300 from plugnplay kits and added a stinger box. It sounds great, but the driver's side front speaker cuts on and off while I listen to music, I think I've heard it happen more when it's at high volume. I just opened it back up to check on the connections and they all seem to be fine. I'm using bass blockers for both speakers in the front, but only driver's side is having issues. Any ideas on what I should try first?

Need to see what the amp's doing when that happens. It should have a protection light, if that's coming on it's either seeing a load issue, heat, or voltage.

p13 has the diagnostic codes.

Would the amp show some error codes, even if everything else is outputting sound?

Swap your front driver and passenger connections at the amp. If the problem moves to the passenger side, it's your amp. If the problem stays at the drive side, something is wrong somewhere in the wiring or the speaker itself.

I have the audio control d-6.1200 which is pretty similar to yours. Same thing happens on mine when I raise the head unit volume to around 25 or more. Exact level depends on the song, but if you look at the amp you'll notice the input clipping light is lit when that left speaker goes out. From what I can tell it's the protection circuitry telling you to reduce volume a few clicks.

Would lowering gain maybe fix that issue?

Did you try what I suggested?

Your amp is rated for 100w rms per channel... You shouldn't be hitting a power limit unless you have your music turned up so loud it hurts...

If the input signal is too high and clipping, you would turn it down at the head unit and turn it up at the amp

I kinda did. I have the harness from plugnplay kits so I just switched speakers around (left to right, right to left), still had the same issue on the driver side. However, I noticed that both speakers cut out. What should I do in that case?

When you say both speakers cut out, what do you mean?

Is it consistently the left cuts out and sometimes the right? Both consistently cut out? Something else?

It's a little hard to tell for sure, but it sounds to me like they both sometimes cut out, not at exactly the same time

Ok, we need to narrow down exactly what's happening... Go into the settings on the head unit and change the balance all the way to left and fade all the way to the front. Then play music to see if it cuts out.

Then do the same thing for the other side.

This will make it clear which side(s) is cutting out.

If it's definitely 1 side cutting out consistently, then swapping the cables and redoing this test will help troubleshoot it. The issue should either swap sides or stay on 1 speaker.

It's definitely BOTH sides cutting out... Then it's much harder to troubleshoot. If you have the stock amp still laying around and can easily reconnect it, you can try that and see if the problem goes away. If the problem is still there, you will need to check all your wiring next. You'll need to check ever single splice and connection. You need to tug on them to see if they're loose. If they come undone easily, you need to redo that connection. Re-test and keep going until you've found every bad connection.

Not for clipping on the input side, the volume control is your "Gain" on that side, and turning it up further will trigger the AC MILC protection. It's a common misconception after adding aftermarket converter that you should be able to adjust your head unit volume all the way up, you can't, and shouldn't. Be sure to look at the setup guide where it tells you to find that max level where you seeing input clipping and make mental note of that volume on your head unit, it is your new max. (Mine is about 24 or 25 depening on the song and I'd assume yours is similar) Here's a link for the process on the simple Line converter. https://www.audiocontrol.com/knowledge-base/set-levels-line-converterprocessoreqcrossover/

The input gain on your amp will be set after you find the input clipping point to then refine what is sent to the output side. Lastly you'll set your output gains. If you did any of these settings before finding your max head unit volume, you'll have to redo them because your not getting the full potential of the system. (ie you want max output from the amp at that head unit volume around 24) The setting gains section of DM walk through explains the process pretty well. https://www.audiocontrol.com/knowledge-base/dm-810-setup-walk-thru/

Considering I see the exact same thing on mine when I turn the head unit over 24, I think this could be your issue. Try running at no more than 23 for a few days and see if it occurs. Good luck.

Great info, mine usually starts right around 20, so I'll try to setup things using 19 as a baseline
