Found this in paint

I work doing PPF at a tint/PPF shop and I haven’t seen a paint job from any new car that is clean or perfect. Just the other day I found a hair under the paint on a brand new Mazda CX-5 and several other spots that looked like dirt. Tesla has notoriously bad paint, not sure what the deal is but it seems almost every manufacturer has been just pushing vehicles out as fast as they can. Don’t get me started on alignment of panels both inside and out being wonky.

the quality of the build is why we bought a Mach E over a Tesla model S.

Wish I would have listened to the body shop manager. But…being my first brand new vehicle I was stubborn.

Body shops are capable of better paint than factory... sounds like the body shop manager couldn't talk you out of having work done, so did subpar work out of spite.

Mine had this as well, but my dealership fixed it, felt like a welding splash under the paint.

I've got something similar on the passenger front door, bottom corner. Smaller. I found it when I ppf'd the lower doors myself. I'm more worried about a shitty repair so I'm leaving it alone. I also found specks of dirt or something in the paint on the sills when I ppf'd those myself. I probably could have removed those with a detailer's nib remover, but screw it, it's a truck and only I can find them. I also noticed some sort of repair to one of the door edges -- maybe to fix a chip. Not sure if that was done at the factory or dealership.

Fit and finish on these rigs is terrible. But by now you've got to be living in a cave not to know that.

Lexus has the best paint period. One thing they never let you see on a factory tour. How they paint there cars. Any manufacture. I worked for a German company that did all the QC for the manufactures. Wave length, gloss meters etc. Ferrari was the last to still do it by eye with the 360 but I digress. Paint in N America is totally different than paint in Europe. Here any orange peel is really unacceptable. In Europe they are ok with some orange peel but your get that deep wet paint look finish they can't reproduce here because of market preference's.

I had yellow spots under my clear coat in my OBX. So far I haven't found anything crazy in my Badsquatch

Crappy factory paint is common across all brands for the most part. Dust blobs are all too common as I have 2 on my bronco. Id rather live with the tiny blob than deal with a body shop. On my Rubicon I had crop circles in the paint on two of the passenger doors. I had the Jeep body shop take care of it, repaint was fine but they did a terrible job of masking off the Jeep. Had to clay bar and clean up so many areas that got overspray. The other downside was that interior smelled like a paint shop for a while.

Yeah, I was worried about the repair, but they litterally kept the Bronco for two weeks, I repainted a lot more than I thought they were going to do, but after it was all said and done, it came back to me perfect. I to PPF the door seals to protect the edges from people getting in out out with my side steps.

And I agree with the fitment of these vehicles, crazy... When inspecting the Bronco before I drove it off the lot, found a paint chip at the lower driver side corner of the grill, grill digs into the paint, mine already had a noticeable paint chip, so they repainted it and to my surprise, there is no adjustment to the front grill, so it touches the paint, all the Broncos I looked at are like this, so I added a small clear rubber bumper behind that part of the grill to give the smallest of gaps, so the grill no longer touches the paint.

My Mach-E had the issue where the headlight isn't aligned properly and it scrapes the paint off the bumper. Ford fixed it under warranty but it still wasn't aligned right so I wasn't sure it wasn't going to happen again.

I'll never know because I sold it because the power limitations Ford put on the GT in order to save the battery were embarrassing. A handful of seconds of full power at best and then the thing felt like a Volvo instead of a "Performance Edition Mustang GT."

Ford paints sucks, doesn't matter what vehicle. Lincoln might be better, but I've never bought any Ford with paint better than a Maaco quickie spray.
