Ford Winch Kit

Hey guys I went deep into the winch rabbit hole and then it occurred to me that the Ford kit is available with the 20% discount and I can apply my points towards the purchase giving this kit an insane value. I can't think of any reason not to do send it - anyone have any negative feelings/experiences with this kit? Is there any other winch setup that comes close to this price?

There's a fairly long thread over here started after the price drop full of experiences with this kit. I like mine a lot and it looks very clean.

A few notes:

It only works with the Modular bumper but can be adapted to the Capable.

If you have the front camera, the view will be full of winch.

If you have sensors in your front bumper, they will need to be disabled or relocated. Ford does not offer a relocate kit but some users have done it. Same story for adaptive cruise.

You will likely experience a bit of front-end sag, and the shackle mounts that hang under the winch will become your new approach angle drag point. These can both be assauged with a level or lift kit with sufficient front-end adjustability.

I ordered, it's sitting at my local dealer for pickup but I'm waiting on the modular bumper to arrive which should be early this week. I'll install it next weekend and report back. without your points, $850 is a great price considering the winch is worth that, and the kit comes with frame horn reinforcements.

Bought mine for my capable bumper back when the price dropped to $2600 (it was originally $3500). With FordPass points and price protection I paid $1500 or so.

No complaints about the winch, even at the higher price I paid. Obviously I would love to have only paid $1050 for it, but my crystal ball absolutely did not expect the price to drop down to the price it is now.

Everything @Smocaine said is spot on, but none of it applied to me as I purposefully bought the Mid package to avoid conflicts with cameras and sensors.

No one else is going to sell you a complete winch kit that includes a $1100 winch for $850. You could however wait for the 25% off (first $1000) discount that comes along rather frequently as of lately, and save another $50. Or purchase the winch kit (minus the winch), and add a $350 winch. Lots of guys purchased the package just for the Warn winch, then listed the kit for sale, however most want way to much for mount, as in they paid $800 for the kit and want $400-500 for just the mount.

Is there any other winch setup that comes close to this price?

i got a BAMF winch bumper and a Warn EVO VR 10 S winch from Amazon (680), both were on sale. Less than $2000 Total. Bumper is a beast compared to modular bumper and my camera isn't blocked. The park sensors and harness were moved to holes in BAMF bumper. ACC can be relocated too if you have it. Winch is in line with frame and is a clean install. i can sell the modular bumper for $500-600, so it brings cost down.

I have this on my 24 Badlands. It's a solid choice, and you cannot beat the price!

That's interesting since it directly conflicts with pretty much any winch installation, including their own Ford one.

It does block a good portion of what they consider medium risk, however it avoids the high risk that many winch kits, almost completely, if not entirely block. Many don't know or don't care about Ford's advice in regards to the winch placement, but it sure looks like they took it into account with the Everglades design. And with it being a Ford part, it shouldn't effect any warranty with regards to the cooling system/engine, which you may run into with the other kits.

I was initially concerned about blocking intercooler with my BAMF / winch but temps stay in 180-190 range on water & oil. I live in Florida. I took a road trip to northeast along rte 81 up and down steep parts of Virginia and Maryland with cruise control set at 75. Nothing out of the green temp-wise. There is enough airflow through vents and around winch For cooling.
