I saw some older threads about issues with receiving points and wanted to give the community a heads up on what happened to me.
Bought my OBX in June, was totally clueless about the 42,000 points I was entitled to until just recently so I started an inquiry directly with Ford customer care.
First I was told the modem was turned on and off the day I bought the truck and that's why I didn't earn them.
That turned out to be BS since the app was working since day one and it was turned off briefly by the dealership while they spent an hour trying to connect my phone. So that excuse was revised by Ford CC
Tip#1 - make sure the dealership shows you that the modem is turned on and the app works. Do not turn it off for 30 days. The agreement you'll sign states that clearly.
Next excuse which I was given today is when I purchased the truck I opted to receive a extended service plan from the dealership in lieu of the 42k points. Again, complete BS because the finance manager offered the service plan at a reduced price and it was rolled into my purchase price. Don't think I'm a dope for letting him tack it on, I have a vehicle allowance which I was still below $ at that point so I figured let the company pay for the extra service. Ford CC told me there's nothing they can do for me and I have to contact the dealership. I'm now waiting for the dealership to get back to me and try to explain this one.
Tip#2 - Watch out for the finance managers adding things on in lieu of what you're entitled to.
It's bad enough that we have to wait years in some cases, pay ridiculous mark ups and then get railed again.
I'm hoping the dealership makes it right, otherwise I'll be bashing them hard on every forum and website I can.
Might not accomplish much but if I can save 1 person from getting shafted it'll be worth it.
