Heh... that just screams like a Kickstarter or Shark Tank product to me.

But it's kinda cool I guess?? Looks like a roof top tent for a small dog.

I found out it is actually a “Shark Tank” product. I got it out of necessity because of an unforeseen issue with my truck and a long trip I have coming up soon. It’s actually pretty big. It’s 20 cubic feet, but fold up small.

We’ll see if it’s as robust as it feels on first impressions. It IS solid as a rock at 70+ mph. Tested it today.

I don't hate it actually. Looks kinda silly cause you have that awesome overland-style Trailrax roof rack with this tiny little roof top box/bag thing on top. But I don't hate it.

Wouldn't buy it personally because tree limbs would just rip it to shreds while off-roading. But assuming it holds up and stands the test of time it seems like a good idea.

Edit— Found their video.

I definitely won’t be off-roading with it. It’s just to get all my equipment to a job I have to go to out of state.

It is pretty solid though. It’s made out of the same thing that paddle boards are made out of, if you’ve ever stood on one of those, they don’t flex at all.

The appearance in the pics suggest it’s some sort of plastic blow up pool toy material, but it’s actually SUPER rigid.

They do make a larger one, but it quite a bit bigger. It would’ve taken up every square inch of my rack, and I was thinking about strapping some other things possibly up there that don’t need weather protection, maybe even slide it over and put my bike up there with it.

All I can say with any certainty is that your gas mileage will not be positively enhanced.

I found that out today. Did a 700 mile trip with it. 14-15mpg for the first 500 miles, and strangely enough 19.5mpg for the last 200 miles. Similar terrain, albeit a lot higher elevation at 5000’ ASL.

That 14mpg sounds about right, and it'll potentially drop lower if you decide to exceed 70mph, and even more in a headwind, going uphill, etc. Bottom line? You'd think a small displacement motor could muster better. But also, no. The turbo helps around town for acceleration but sucks the fuel the faster under higher speeds. Heading up north in Michigan while trying to maintain a 70mph average I usually get 13mpg.

Any idea yet what it does to your mpg and noise levels? That's a reason I've stayed away from rooftop items. On the plus side, if carrying stuff one way, at least you could deflate and store inside the vehicle on the way back.

Edit: just saw your mpg post.

Unfortunately, while our 2-doors look amazing and maneuver just as good, we got no cargo room. A good rack and a box of some kind are our only recourse.

Just packed it up in the backpack in came with to store in my room for the extended stay.
