After having two Bronco sports and waiting for the market to calm down i finally upgraded to a reg. Size Bronco Badlands.

Loving it so far. We were pretty pumped to be able to get a Heritage Limited sport but the bigger Bronco feels much better, like you are driving a Bronco not a compact suv.

Congratulations!!

Really curious, though, how was the Sport as a vehicle in general? In a perfect world, where it was affordable to do so, would it be a great high school or college kid's vehicle?

Gives me early explorer vibes when I see it IRL from behind and quartering away.

Congratulations Dan! I'm with you on the space. We had a Bronco Sport for 3 years and I so wanted the big Bronco, but they were constrained. We finally got the Bronco with a manual transmission, two months ago. More space, more height and all around more fun to drive! Enjoy your new Ride!

My wife has a sport and it’s a great vehicle. Just not a primarily off road vehicle. It’s really like the old first/second gen Escape, or a little brother to the Explorer. It compares very well versus a Subaru or RAV4 or something.

The fit and finish is way ahead of the big Bronco. The power train is adequate, and the off road modes it does have handle most situations very well.

If you had the means - yes, it would be great for a young driver. A decent bit of cargo space and 4 doors with a real back seat. Enough power to be safe and zippy but not so much as it’s a constant temptation, and very good in weather. And decent on gas.

Hi Squatch,
If this helps, we had a Bronco Sport prior and live part time in winter climates with late teen kids. It seemed very safe and large enough to insulate in an accident. The size allowed for packing 4 adult sized folks and their luggage or camping gear both in the back and on top. It was easy for the kids AND MOM, to get in and out of and a very comfortable drive / ride. Good gas mileage and a handled well in snow and ice (if that's a factor). It would be a vehicle I would get for either our adult child or high school senior.

I would agree with all of this.

We liked the sport. It was zippy and easy to park and the room up front was enough and even cargo space was ok but the kids getting older the back seat was getting tight. It rode nice and smooth and ours had the 2.0 which seemed to have plenty of power for the sport. We did have a sport with a 1.5 and id honestly not buy a sport without the 2.0. The 1.5 ran funny being a 3 cylinder. The 2.0 engine and badlands suspension was definitely noticeable when we switch from a sport big bend to a badlands.

Funny you mention the Escape because my wife had a Escape way back when and loved it and when they redesigned them to look like a space ship she was bummed. When i showed her a pic of the Sport when it was announced she said "OMG is that the new escape, i love it!". The fact it was actually named a bronco made her like it even more. But yea, the sport does remind me shape wise of some of those older Escapes.

Yeah, it definitely looks like the early Escapes too. Fortunately, I have some years before I have a teen driver, but I'm asked by a lot of family and friends about it and teen driver suitability.

Thank you and @Mojo for the feedback.

The reality is the sport would probably be more than sufficient to support the needs of most Bronco owners, with exception of looking more badasser. It would be awesome if someone could build one up and do some ridiculous stuff with it.

This is the truth. I can only think of maybe 2 or 3 trips I've done in my big Bronco we couldn't have done in the Sport - and if I could convince my wife to put a little lift on it I bet I could have gotten through one of those 2 trails.

If the driver's seat were just a bit roomier I wouldn't mind one for a daily driver at all.

The big hurdle to that is it is not BOF or I suspect we would have a lot of wild Sports on 35s, etc. from the time when Broncos were nigh impossible to get.
