Expectation vs reality

I have zero intention of destroying a $45k vehicle. With that being said my expectations and my reality is the same. I live in the flat lands of the Mid Atlantic. Closest place to do some fun off-roading is 3 hours away. So it will be beach riding only.

This is a good thread, I like this thread. I have done a ton of off roading/rock crawling with my CJ. Which I really want to do with my Bronco. However I have an 18month old and another baby coming in a few months. I think any true off-roading with my Bronco will be in a few years. I did take my daughter to a Jeep Jamboree this past fall, my poor wife hiked with her on her back the whole time while I drove. But I think two will just make it that much harder.. anyway I guess trips to Buy Buy Baby for diapers for now. I think I’ll be able to manage a few trips on the beach to do some fishing at least. My ultimate goal is to road trip with the family when the kids get older across the US to the west coast to explorer Moab and the Rubicon trail (I really hope I’ll make this a reality).

First of all congrats on the growing family! I hope you’re getting the four door to make car seat install easier! Good luck hitting the trails with the kids one day.

Yeah beach wheelin’ will be my primary off roading too. But luckily it’s only about 4 hours to the mountains for me. You’ll have fun with trail turn assist in the sand!

I imagine myself overlanding through the wilderness over rocks and mud and living off the land in my Bronco.

Reality is that’ll probably never happen. I will be using it on the beach a lot though.

What’s your expectation vs reality?

I think I'm realistic. I'm never taking it to hard-core trails. Moderate and mostly beach

Off road park 4 times per year. Using it as a "convertible" errand runner all summer. Commuter from time to time in foul weather. Teaching my kids to drive a stick car. Something to take apart and "improve" when I get bored.

A friend had a shiny new sweet rubicon - that he took off road with us under peer pressure last summer. The kids came along. Had an absolute blast (and scratched it up a little). He died unexpectedly of a heart attack a couple months later. Life is short. I say... use your Bronco for FUN, change your life if you can't, and damn the scratches!

Thanks! (I’m getting a two door (it was a long agonizing decision)) we’ll see how that works out for me. I tested it out on the friends 2rd wrangler one weekend. I am tall enough to throw them in the back seat ha.

The reality is alot of the first timers are going to freak out when their 50+ thousand plus bronco gets stuck the first time!

80% of bronco buyers will have mentality of climbing mountains with it. Reality is theyll never set off pavement unless its an unpaved driveway
