Expectation: Don’t mod yourself in to an off road beast, it’s always a headache of issues. Remember it’s your daily driver

Reality: I’ve modded myself out of 3 daily driver Jeeps already.

Conclusion: The Bronco will be no different. I’ll say I’m gonna keep it tame, once I start I’ll go overboard with it, convert it in to an off-road monster, get annoyed by all the issues it’s caused, sell it for something I hate like a practical compact car for a short time and will either buy a new one or Jeep again and start the vicious cycle all over again.

Expectation: Pretty close to reality

Reality: Daily Driver, plus a quite a number of trips (weekend or longer) to places that have no paved roads and/or beaches that can be driven upon. But not rock hewn trails and such. BUT Reality also means I will 100% add all the items and stuff I will probably never use just because.

Better to have and not need, than to need and not have.......

Expectation: An off-road suv to pull behind the recovery Ranger. Or just take on short trips around SoCal.

Reality: A 3rd vehicle to wash! 🤦

Too true. Lifting and adding components the vehicle was never engineered for creates some, shall we say, interesting on road manners not conducive to safe driving. My TJ was a death trap and when I got on the highway prayed no one pulled out in front of me.

Take mine out and explore the Arizona desert and mountain's to find off the beaten path to 😎 secluded area's
This!
I imagine myself overlanding through the wilderness over rocks and mud and living off the land in my Bronco.

Reality is that’ll probably never happen. I will be using it on the beach a lot though.

What’s your expectation vs reality?
Back when I had my Expedition, I would hit the road, and try to get lost on roads I had no idea about. It was a ton of fun!
Now that I have the mid life crisis, go fast need, out of my system, I am going back to off-roading when I get my Bronco, and getting rid of the '18 Mustang GT. Love it, but love getting lost more.
There are LOADS of great places to explore in the AZ. desert and pine covered forests. It's all so damn pretty!
I love this state!
So, mild crawling and mudding, but mostly off road exploring, and taking on whatever I find.
I do intend to explore far outside my state too!
Overlanding? Maybe. More of a lighter version of it perhaps.

Have you considered therapy?

It will probably be similar to my current vehicles. Beach trips, up to my in-laws mountain property, some light off-roading to camp spots and CA/AZ desert areas, but mostly daily driving. Also planning some road trips up the coast. This is why I'm keeping it simple, base model with a nice 32" AT tire and wheel upgrade. Skipping all the pricey extras I won't use. Of all the trucks and SUVs I've owned, only one even had 4wd and I only used it a few times to be honest.

I know exactly what my reality for the Bronco will be because I lived it already in the 4Runner.
Off road use to get to remote locations on solo multi-day trips.
Will not be my DD and will be modified for more ground clearance with 37's and a mild lift.
My challenge will be paring down gear to fit it all into the 2DR Bronco.

Thank God for the crawl gear
Your first pic doesn't look remotely fun to me at all. I can't stand doing the giant group trail thing. Always go with a buddy, but for me 5 vehicles is the max.

Same here. So happy to live in this state. Loads of places to get lost, and none of it is a very long drive to get there!
