So I bought DV8 light bar mount because I really liked the look. Looking back at the purchase it was not worth it as the money would have been better spent on something else. I don't like being limited on light choices and DV8 clearly didn't make this compatible with normal light sizes.

I have 6 hours into this install, for a $165 dollar light bar and $250 mount.

Auxbeam light bar I used, really wanted a black oak but nothing fits this mount. It's the. Dual Row 350watt 52" with 2.75" height

Issues are the mount doesn't fit any main stream light brands. Here we have the light bar mounts as they come out of the box.

After grinding them down. Look at the front I had to grind them to clear the giant booger weld. This took 3-4 tries and I had to use a low clearance nut. Light bar is wedged in lol.

Rest of the install went smooth, some day time testing.

"Our Bronco light bar mount was designed for the straight, Elite Series 52-inch LED Light Bar, however we also included mounting points for up to sixteen 3-inch pod lights as an alternative".
"Features

  • Mounts the Elite 52" Light Bar or 16 Pod Lights
  • Micro-Texture Black Powder Coat Finish
  • No Drilling Installation
  • Installs to OEM Bronco Accessory Mounts"

I'm Not sure why you don't recommend people buying this product. Seems to me it was designed for a specific light bar as in the description. On the other hand, I feel your pain. I've bought plenty of products knowing I might have to modify them to get what I was looking for and not what it was built for.

Easy, you made something that is not universal. Biggest issues was I did want to spend $400+ dollars on a light bar with a 1 year warranty from an unknown source. For the exact same cost to manufacturer you could have made something that works with 1/2 the light bars on the market and had a fantastic product. I feel like the product is more of a scam then something to praise.

i had the same issue with that product and dv8 support was terrible being advertised as a universal mount bracket that my rigid light would not work without being modified of course they wanted me to pay return shipping and a restocking fee for their misleading product

When the product description clearly states what it is intended to be used with, I don't think it needs to be universal. That is like buying in a pair of women's pants and complaining that they don't fit right.

Thread of title should read; I successfully modified a budget light bar to work in the DV8 light bar mount.

I just wish they weren't so proud of their logo. So many of their products would be right up my alley if it wasn't for that panel they have to stick on everything to laser-cut.

As satisfying as I'm sure it is for all y'all to slide in and be smarmy and unhelpful, it's VERY good information to know that the DV8 mount will ONLY fit the DV8 bar, because I'm finding roof bar mounts lacking, and DV8 lights are a leap I'm not willing to make with so many other known-solid light options available.

That's why it's in DV8's description twice. The problem with this " Do Not Buy" Post is the OP hasn't/Won't address whether he knew it was or wasn't built for a one off light. He's throwing shade at a product/Company without disclosing or taking responsibility for the decision process that led him to buy the product that is clearly described to only be used for certain lights. Either he knew it and tried to modify it, Or he didn't and modified it. He didn't make a cautionary post, He made a "Do not buy" post with no account of how he got to that conclusion.

Lets try this again.
Snacktime, You said " I don't like being limited on light choices and DV8 clearly didn't make this compatible with normal light sizes"

Snacktime, Then why did you buy it?

It says it mounts their lightbar, it doesn't say it doesn't mount any other lightbar. Being able to mount a lightbar to a lightbar mount when most lightbar mounts are fairly universal is not the completely unreasonable expectation you are making it out to be. In addition, it says it mounts 3" pod lights, but Snacktime previously posted that those don't fit either - so it also isn't fit for purpose it actually was advertised for.

e: The instructions also directly suggest the mount is compatible with other 52" lightbars.

You're right, It doesn't say " It doesn't mount any other light bar" Because this cannot be possibly known. There's thousands of different light bars out there. In Fact The OP did mount a light bar to it with modification.

It does say " Our Bronco light bar mount was designed for the straight, Elite Series 52-inch LED Light Bar, "
It also does say " Mounts the Elite 52" light bar or 16 Pod lights"

Maybe reading comprehension is a thing of the past.

Had it been labeled as a " Universal" light bar mount, The the OP would have an argument, But This is simply not the case.

That being said, The OP still hasn't addressed why he bought it.
