Hi - I am just hitting the end of my warranty, and noticed an issue with my leather driver's seat. My dealer submitted photos of the cracked seat for warranty repair, but this morning Ford came back & denied the claim. Per the photos, Ford believes it was caused by a sharp object. I don't recall doing this, and it doesn't look like that to me, but I'm not an expert!

In a different thread, someone mentioned Ford may only cover seats for the first 12 months or so. My understanding is that 3 year / 36K coverage was an option, but of course not if it was my fault.

The good news is that the dealer said they will waive the ~$600 labor, so it's just the new seat cover at about $350.

Definitely not "caused by a sharp object". This is NOT leather either. It's a cheap vinyl that cracks easily with extreme temps. No amount of "conditioner" will prevent it. Fight it.

Danielsand is right. That part of the seat is vinyl, and the replacement will likely crack in the same place in about the same amount of time. You might extend its life a bit by trying to lift your butt over that area instead of sliding in and out. I’ve seen it many times in that general area of the vinyl seats on our company trucks.

Definitely cracking not a sharp object. The stress cracking is clear. Bad call by Ford but a good customer response by your dealer!

100% looks like cracking, not sharp object damage. Bumper to bumper 3/36 is standard. Agreed with that being a bad call via Ford. I wonder if you could contact Ford corporate and get a second look. I was able to do that with Subaru with an initial denied claim. They ended up covering it. Regardless, that is a great offer from your dealer!

Agree w/ others (cracking) & Ford's trying to ride-out your warranty. I'd go back to dealer & have the service manager push this to a higher level. Vehicle warranty should be your sole option as it's still within coverage window. Good luck & hope it works out.
