Does your Bronco ever lock itself with the key fob inside?

Although I haven't locked my fob inside yet.... I can unlock / lock and remote start my Bronco with the ford app on my phone. Is that disabled if your fob in lock inside?

I do, but Ford did such an awful design on the fob that it's too easy to hit the panic button and set off the alarm. Even with the Forscan changes for a double-click, it still happens. I'm likely going to pop the fob open and superglue the switch contact open so the panic button has no function, because there isn't a single instance I can think of where that stupid button is useful.

I have never set the alarm off on any Ford we've owned. That button doesn't seem to be an issue for me, and it stays in a pocket with my knife 100% of the time.

Now, my old Ram, I was ALWAYS setting the alarm off on that because it was right next to the remote start button. Hated that key fob.

That 'stupid button' has a LOT of uses, particularly letting people who shouldn't be snooping around your vehicle know you see them. Or to call attention to a situation you might be in (group of people looking to carjack you in a parking lot maybe?). It may not do anything itself, but it WILL call attention, which is something those looking to do something nefarious don't want.

It's your fob, though, do what you will.

I have hit the lock button on the door and (on the rare occasion the fob is not in my pocket) had the truck Double Honk at me as a reminder that the key is inside. It's a shame that the dealer is not more helpful. Like someone said above, you're just gonna have to keep that fob on your person. Of course, if you have the FordPass App (and have your phone), you can unlock it that way.

My wife and I have both had issues with the 2015+ Ford Key fobs. Her '17 F150 (RIP) was not as bad because the button required more travel. My S550 Mustang and Bronco key fobs are always triggering the panic button when in my pockets. It's nuisance trips from the button design (large surface area, not enough of a lip around the housing to prevent such, short button stroke). I have no key chains, and only one key on the fob. Each pocket is dedicated, so it's not hitting other items. Maybe it's the fact that my legs are rock solid haha

As for the purported uses, I park my vehicle in a garage and I'm armed 24/7 except in church on Sundays, or the unfortunate times I have to go to the county tax office/dmv for financial extortion. I have never encountered an instance in my life where I would rely on a "panic" button to address the situation.

The “ left my fob in the Bronco” post gets followed up by the “my Bronco was stolen” post. Occasionally there is an additional post known as “ I was locked out of my Bronco because I routinely leave the fob inside”.

It's been a long time since I had a pleasure to engage a living target(s). Since in my area everyone is armed, there is no chance for "carjacking experience". If I don't dislike people as much as I do, I'd move to Chicago. That's what I call "target rich environment".

Happens all the time on my 2023 Wildtrak. Usually when I’m filling up - the key is in the cup holder, I get out, close the door, damn.
I found it only affects the driver side door though(!), so I just have to walk to the passenger side, open the door, curse Ford and retrieve the key.

This is basically the same behavior that I am experiencing. I was camping recently and had to get in through the passenger door twice because it kept locking the driver door. Since I'm at a campsite the natural place for my keys is inside the safety of the vehicle where they wont' get lost in the sand.

I was originally wondering if somehow another vehicle or device on my street was transmitting a frequency that would fool the Bronco into thinking that a lock command was issued wirelessly, but after this happening out in the middle of the desert it is definitely not the case.

Have you replaced the battery in your key fob?

Mine's the opposite issue - I have the keypad outside and it's hard to lock my keys inside. I use the remote roll-up function (enabled with ForScan) and toss them in.

This! Happened to me at the manual car wash. The passenger door didn’t lock though.

I have a 2021 Base model with a numeric keypad, and the ONLY way I can get it to lock the key inside is by pressing the two keys on the right simultaneously. There is no accidentally locking it, and hitting the lock button before shutting the door leaves it unlocked after it beeps once or twice.

Apparently things have changed since the first year if some of you can accidentally lock your key fob inside.
