I wasn't happy with the available options for side window storage options for 2 doors, so I decided to take a shot at making my own. I ended up using a wire shelf from Home Depot, and cutting it to fit vertically in the window. Below are the items I used:
$12.47
$4.97
I used a small L bracket I had around the house, but any metal strapping would work fine. You will mount this with one of the hard top bolts, so you will need to drill it out to 5/16 inch.
I cut to fit, and angled the top half to account for the roll bar. Allow for a little bit of room to replace the rubber caps on the ends. Once cut, it will look like this.
Here it is installed.
Enough room for a tool kit and flashlight pouch on the top.
And a fire extinguisher below.
All in all, I'm pretty happy with it. It doesn't rattle at all when driving, and it seems pretty sturdy. I'm sure there are ways for better engineering, but I'm pretty happy with it for under $20.
