I’m a first day reservation holder. Tonight will be a year since I reserved my Badlands. I’m happy for all those members who have received their Bronco’s, or at least who have gotten a VIN, however I’m more than a little frustrated at the process.

Last night I stumbled across a Jeep Rubicon with the sky touch roof, and just about every other package you can get. It was fresh off the truck and available.

I had planned on spending the summer off-roading. Up until the Bronco launch I had intended to get a jeep, but was a Bronco owner from a long time ago who felt a lot of nostalgia towards it, so I instead gravitated to the Bronco.

Since it’s highly unlikely that I will get a MY 21 I am now wondering if it isn’t a better idea to request the painted top, have my order 99’d until 2023 and just purchase the Rubicon while I wait for Ford to get its act together. Anyone else considering the same approach?

I still think Ford came up with a great product, and may buy one in the future. But, I’m just not enjoying the wait anymore. Anyway, just wondering what others are doing now that it has been a year. Looking forward to getting flamed😉😖

Do it. If you had planned to explore all this summer, especially after last year, get the Rubicon. It's still a great vehicle and does a lot of things well.

Get the Bronco exactly how you wanted it in 2023 and you'll get to see what the Ford does better and differently and you'll get whatever improvements Ford makes over two model years

As bronco owner for the last 40y, and a loyal Ford fan, I would not blame anybody from jumping off this sinking ship. Go buy what makes you happy. There's not a single person out there who's buying a new bronco because they "need" one, but purely because they want one. Too bad Ford doesn't realize that.....

I would think your depreciation would be less if you found a Rubicon less optioned. But yeah, at this point I am kicking myself for not leasing a Gladiator in 2019 and waiting on the Bronco to get a few years of production under it’s belt so I could just order predictably like normal.

You only get so many Summers and an unknown number of them to boot. Nobody will flame you for doing what is right for you. Ford appears to be trying to keep people from jumping ship with future promises, but they haven't kept a single original date or promised estimate for delivery yet. Bird in the hand is worth two in the bush...

No flame, it's your money but it's also been your time waiting for something and then getting the Jeep you could have already had.

No flaming here.
You do what's right for you, when it is right for you.
It's no one else's place to judge that.
My advice echoes above advice, nothing is guaranteed.
Not time, not opprortunities to take, not build dates, nothing.
So do what brings you the most joy.
And if that is a Rubi for a year, or two, or five, do it and get out there.

I did it, but I bought an older one that hopefully (unless I break it) will last me plenty long for my '22 (or '23).

And even if by then things aren't improved upon, it's not the end of the world.

We will still have options, all of us.
Either way, do what brings more joy to your life, and more life to your days.

If I didn't have a Vin and a build week I'd probably be in a new 4Runner already so if you're not seeing a light at the end of the tunnel why not get something for right now. Especially if it's something that holds it's value as well as Jeeps seem to.

Shoot maybe just keep your res and get the jeep. You still might not see your order until 2023 the way things are going!!

You're a grown up. Make grown up decisions.

You don't need anyone's permission or approval to do what makes you happy. Time is money, but it's also your life and you only get one.

I don’t think you really have a dilemma.

You found a Jeep you really like and have a plan to push your Bronco to MY23.

Off you go, enjoy. In a few years you’ll have both.

Do what makes you happy. You had a plan, Ford threw a wrench into it but it shouldn't deter you from enjoying your summer. No judgement.

Now on another note:, I am currently 99'd, likey MY2022/23 and would be happy to "swap" places :p
