Question: We recently DIY-programmed a 3rd FOB using the two original OEM FOBs. If we lose one of these two original OEM FOBs can we still DIY-program a 4th FOB (using the remaining original OEM FOB and the DIY-programmed 3rd FOB)?

YES , assuming no previous fobs already being programmed.

An aside - am I the only one that finds it odd they can lock down FDRS just fine, but they can't make the intro Bronco movie play without the screen freezing halfway through.

Wow that was extremely easy to program. It took me more time to memorize the sequence and do it all in under 30 seconds.

And the maximum you can program is 4 remotes.

Not anymore. All key programming requires FMC login credentials.
Yep, for security reasons. Aftermarket key guys have to have Ford access also. Without that security Passive Anti Theft wouldn’t be as effective.

And people told me I was 100% crazy and wrong when I said in my accessories video that programming costs $300-$350… :cautious:

- - -

Anyway… @fresnobrianb try a licensed locksmith.

Many locksmiths stay away from vehicles because the cost to obtain the equipment and necessary access is too high compared to the amount of work it brings in for them. But some locksmiths will do car programming.

But also don’t be surprised if you don’t find anyone. Only one out of the 8 locksmiths within 100 miles of me will program cars. And even if you do find one, I doubt many will be willing to wonder into a dealer parking lot and program a vehicle for you.
In my experience, they have no problem coming to a dealer to program keys. They are there quite often to do keys for off brand used cars.

I just took delivery of my 2024 wildtrak and was quoted $550 for one fob with laser cut key , I purchased 2 oem fobs with uncut keys for $180 online but still getting quotes of $75 -90 to cut the key which if I can't find it cheaper I probably won't get done
Good chance those FOBs are counterfeit at that price. The fakes are really good.

Had my only key stolen during a work trip. Bought 2 OEM fobs online. Towed truck to dealer to get them programmed and was quoted $350 in labor. I can’t imagine this is more than an hours work. Thoughts?
See if it’s cheaper to just have them program one, then you can do the third one yourself.

If you lose both FOBs you will need to program 2 new ones. You can’t do just one.

I've already had to use my key once. Bronco was completely unresponsive after work one day. Used the key to unlock the door, then the alarm goes off, then it started up easy-peasy, didn't even have to use the hole in the bottom of the console.

No idea why it did that, unless I somehow bobbled turning it off and left it in accessory? But it went into deep sleep and I'd have been stuck without the metal key.

It was late. I didn't pay attention that he had lost all keys.

That’s about a third or half what Porsche or Audi would charge, so it seems like a bargain to me.

My AliExpress fobs are clearly fakes (made me apply the Ford logo to the back of the shell, and they even use a different coin battery type) but programmed fine and work perfectly.

Update - Thanks to all the reference I was able to get the SM to do it for $250. Still seems like taking advantage of the situation, but I can live with that. Got the OEM fobs for $100 each and the tow was $100. So $550 all in. Not the worst case scenario. Silver lining, I was parked in long term parking for 14 days at the airport. At $29 a day, the parking bill would have been $409, they didn’t even charge the tow truck driver to get out. Future move - $100 to tow a car out of airport parking and skip the parking fees lol.
