Cowl-mounted Tach!

It's official. I figured I'd hate it...and I hate it! I'm talking about the tach. Mamma mia it's bad. Like embarrassing bad. Silly 80s video game bad. CyberTruck bad. I hope someone was fired over this design. It's really that bad. It's worse than no tach honestly.

And...I'm 7-spd MT. And the exhaust is so quiet you can't hear revs. I need a real tach.

So, I begin to think about how to do it and do it right. I'm starting to contemplate making a bracket using the accessory attach points on the cowl, next to the mirror. I think there's enough room to avoid the wiper blade swing and yet still have good line-of-sight when driving. Red dots in pics show theoretical placement.

Anyone care to talk me off this cliff?

I had to leave my bronco at the dealers for a couple days, they gave me a loaner. Was a super cheap Ecosport. The car sucked, but I sure was jealous of the gauges.

The broncos gauges are the one thing I really dislike about the truck.

Yep...this is basically my point. In an enthusiast vehicle like Bronco, we get that silly bar tach. It's quickly become the biggest disappointment in an otherwise great vehicle.

I like hood mounted for sure, but it would sit so low that I wouldn't be able to see it. It needs to be elevated at least a few inches.

I’ll echo this comment. It’s not too hard to get used to reading the digital RPM reading.

The analog speedo, on the other hand, is a waste of space. It’s immediately beside the digital speed display, and you can’t turn one or the other off. It’s redundantly redundant

Not really an issue. Look at it a couple of times at first to verify your shift points. Rarely look at it again. Shift when the vehicle tells you to.
Nice tachs are cool and all, but there was a time most vehicles were manuals and few had tachs.

I don’t think my the tach would be as bad if you could get rid of the second speedometer that’s makes absolutely no sense and have the tach slide over and look like a actual tach. It’s really annoying to me that I have a digital Speedo and a regular one and have no choice to turn it off that I’ve found yet.
