Coolant use with ecoboosts

Asking here for my wife’s Sport since this group is far more knowledgeable about vehicles in my opinion than the Sport forum. Should there be any loss whatsoever of coolant? Max to just below minimum little over a year. I’m thinking minor leak somewhere. Did find a sticky residue while changing oil on water pump side of engine.

Pretty normal loss over a year. But if you see something leaking, worth having it looked at.

common issue with 1.5l bronco sports. Took the wife’s bronco sport in for coolant loss and they replaced the water pump. People on the sport forums have reported multiple replacements.

That’s strange. We haven’t noticed any more coolant loss since our water pump was replaced. As long as it doesn’t drop below minimum, you’ll be okay. Maybe you had air in the system and it took a year to work it out. I’d keep an eye on it and take it in if it gets lower. People reported coolant loss even with the “new” part. It’s hard to find a coolant leak with the under shield.

The 1.5s are notorious for water pump issues - small weeping that won’t leave a puddle

Most likely a water pump failure. My 1.5L BS had two of them during my short time with it.

Not leaking, but they will loose coolant over time. Not to mention you might have an air bubble here and there that will contribute to lower coolant level eventually. Especially on a new vehicle.

I experienced a bit of coolant loss within the first year and didn't notice until my car started shuddering two blocks away from my house. I took it to service regularly and thought that my liquids visually checked and topped off at every interval but I was wrong. I took it to the dealer and they performed several tests and no coolant leaks detected. I did a lot of research and apparently on new cars, and several Ford models there could be an air bubble that eventually gets pushed out and could cause low coolant. I haven't had any loss of coolant after topping off at the recommended level since.

I also checked our Maverick 2.0 and it was the same. Topped both off. No residue anywhere on the Maverick. There is some residue on the Sport. Will just monitor.
Bronco has no loss and is the oldest one.

I had slow coolant loss over several thousand miles that kept happening - going from the full mark to the min mark. I filled it up several times and then started looking for a leak. I found a pin hole leak in the radiator. I took it in and the radiator was replaced under warranty.
