I’m surprised they even sell these still. Don’t most departments have laser that’s pretty much undetectable until it’s too late? Sorry haven’t had a detector in more than 20 years..
LIDAR isn’t used as much as radar. I wish they would switch completely to it. I would never have another ticket.

You guys still speed even with gas prices they way they are now?! I feel like I'm part of a yacht club now. Next you're going to tell me none of you reuse ziplock bags either.
Well shit yeah! Got to see what falls off our trucks at 109 for warranty stuff ya know? Research for the forums!

I figure Radenso will have their Theia radar detector out before I get my Bronco. :(

We go into Virginia a lot. I‘m going to need my Uniden R7 mounted up high.

I’ve thought about laser jammers too. But, if I go with a winch and lights. It may not be the best setup. We really don’t have any hard to jam guns in NC. So, it may not be an issue.

No I don‘t care if you don’t speed. Just stay in the right lane and let the other traffic pass. It always seems stupid when you see jeeps and larger jacked up trucks riding the left lane blocking traffic.
Can't stand people squatting in the left lane at the speed limit, creates a total log jam and forces people to dangerously pass on the right. If there's someone behind you in the left lane, you're doing it wrong!

LOL this statement is so NOT true. Do your homework.

A good radar detector can detect active radar up to 5 miles away, but the cop needs to be pretty close to you. And fyi they can pick you out of a crowd, and they are very good at hiding lol.

Get an Escort directional Max 360 and you’ll even know when you’ve passed the trap where you never saw the cop. Happens all the time. A dash cam won’t do squat to keep you from getting speeding tickets.

I have them in all my cars and trucks, and they save my bacon all the time. Even with an instant detection attempt pointed at you, you can often slow down fast enough before the cop can get a reading. Unfortunately in that case they’ll claim they’re trained to estimate speed accurately. Laser is a different thing, but they are not used as much because you can beat them in court.
Alright I'll bite.... teach me master!

Nah, I feel like we need as many people as possible not using them. Plenty of low hanging fruit for the Leos to catch. I need to get a dash cam because it’s always funny when you get alerts a few miles back and it’s marked on WAZE. People blast by you to get pulled over. I speed back up to PSL+20.

The section i highlighted from PCDan was referring to police use of LIDAR, not civilian laser detectors. My question was why these systems are apparently not considered valid or reliable evidence in court.

With an attorney that knows about Laser they can show how under many conditions the speed readings are unreliable.

Sorry, I completely missed that.

LIDAR tickets are no easier to beat in court than radar tickets. It’s going to be all the same - calibration, is the officer trained. The only other way is they put the distance on the ticket. If the officer is using it outside of the manufacturer’s max range.

They don’t use LIDAR as often because it’s just easier to ride around shooting radar. My last ticket was a rear shot from a prolaser 3 on my vehicle without jammers.

Ended up sending the k40 back. Not happy with it at all. Replaced it with a 360 c max. Best detector made imo. Just hard to find right now. Had to get the one with the dash cam built in.
