I had a Ford multipoint inspection for the camera recall and they missed a leaky CV Boot. That was two weeks ago. I changed the oil myself a few days ago and noticed the front right/driver had accumulated a lot of grease on top of the arm, but under the boot. Clearly it had been that way for at least a few months. I took it to the dealership and they quickly confirmed it needed a new front axle which they covered under warranty. Mine is a 2023 Bronco Raptor. Check fluid levels and check suspension for leaks on parts and not just on the ground. Grease doesn’t really drip like other fluids so grab a flashlight and check. I hope this helps a few of you.

Oh it doesn't take very long for it to look like a grease bomb exploded when you lose a boot. A few dozen miles and grease will be all over. And it won't be long after that until the CVs start clicking, usually at full turn and/or while backing up.

Don’t understand axle and boot failure on modern vehicles so early. There are VW bugs from the 60’s still running original CV and boots. CVs at least.

IMHO, it’s usually the angle of the axle through a lift. Premature wear usually happens.
