I can't imagine Mishimoto isn't already working on a kit since they've been pretty big into the Fords lately.

I will definitely be running a catch can on my 2.7’s. The thing you want most is one with proper baffling to actually pull the oil particles out of the air. It makes a big difference.
Coupl'a questions if I could:

Have you landed on a brand yet?....or do you know when Ford Performance will be ready?

Are oil change intervals sufficient for emptying the can?

Do you know of any negatives, or warranty issues, associated with installing one on Bronco?

Thanks

Blow back happens even in NA engines but the most is in high pressure turbo engines ..... why would the cold weather make a difference?

That’s because when the engine and crankcase are not fully warmed up there will be more moisture and/or other liquid contaminants in the PCV system. When the engine is fully warmed up the PCV system will contain a higher percentage of vapor that will go through any catchcan and into the intake. A modified engine will most likely be running higher boost and higher fuel flow which will increase cylinder pressure and thus increase crankcase pressure creating more material including more liquids in the PCV system.

Check out radium engineering

I haven’t settled yet but will probably go with a dual Mishimoto setup. There are even more hardcore options like an actual air-oil separator that uses the labyrinth design like I mentioned but I don’t think that is needed on something like this.

Depending on the size of the can, changing the oil should be a good time for emptying it but it wouldn’t hurt to check every so often it to make sure that interval will work for you.

Shouldn’t be a negative, they would have to prove that it affected the engine which would honestly be very hard since you’re not changing anything but the path the ventilation air goes. I’ve never personally seen an issue with it.

No I’m a powertrain development engineer for Ford
Thank you for providing your recommendation for a dual can from Mishimoto. I am not familiar with this brand, so I am going to ask you, would you recommend their intercoolers?

I did not bring up intercoolers so go after the poacher.

And how many questions are you going to ask about catch cans? Just get one when it comes out.
