Here’s a recent trail report from our medium level ride over the weekend. We ended up with 43 Bronco’s and one Jeep.
Medium Level Ride Trail Report
What a day! We had a large turnout and a great group of people from beginning to end. Lots of new faces, several people leveling up from our easy rides, and plenty of our core group members. I thought it was a great day, and this one definitely turned into more of an adventure than we originally expected and hopefully one to remember.
We started out heading to the well-known Nada Tunnel, then on to our first trail, Spaas Creek. Spaas never disappoints, and even though we had two large groups, everyone moved through the trail pretty quickly. There wasn’t much stopping or need for spotting on the obstacles. Everyone did excellent.
After Spaas Creek, we stopped at a local park for lunch that had restrooms and a shelter house. I think we stayed about 40 minutes before the first group headed off to our next trail, Brushy Fork. The second group followed a short time later.
We hit our first big hurdle on Brushy Fork when we came across trees down across the trail. Several people jumped out, I grabbed my saw, and we started moving limbs and working together to get the trail cleared. It was really cool seeing everyone pitch in and work as a team.
Then, almost immediately after getting through that, we ran into another set of downed trees that we weren’t going to be able to clear easily. So we had to figure out a bypass around them. Again, it took a team effort to get the route figured out and make sure every Bronco got through safely.
That’s what I really enjoyed about today’s ride. Nobody was just worried about getting their own Bronco through. People were out helping, spotting, clearing trail, and making sure the group kept moving.
After Brushy Fork, we started getting a little rain. By the time we got toward the end and heard some thunder in the distance, the storms were really starting to move in.
Some of the group decided to air back up, while some of us decided to brave the weather and tackle one last trail, Clifton Road.
Clifton Road is beautiful all year round and is one of my favorite trails. I think everyone really enjoyed it. It offers creek crossings, a few rocky sections, steep terrain, and some cinematic views. There are even a few sections where you’re looking almost straight down, but everyone did great and conquered it without fear.
The heavy downpours at the end definitely added another level to the adventure and made for an interesting finish to the day.
Trees down, a trail bypass, teamwork, rain, storms, and plenty of time behind the wheel today was definitely an adventure-filled day.
Huge thanks to everyone who came out, and especially everyone who jumped in to help when we needed it. Days like today are what these rides are all about.
