It is amazing that we are at this point in time when the thought of a dealer discounting a vehicle off msrp becomes an issue. It wasn't very long ago that the very thought of paying msrp was just crazy. We expected and dare I say demanded a discount off of msrp or we were taking our buisness elsewhere. I purchased a truck at the beginning of 2020 right before covid began to control our lives and paid 8000 below msrp on a very desirable 2020 2500 Duramax GMC Sierra, not a previous year model, new body style. I didn't have to ask for that, its what they offered. This new reality that world seems to have embraced with open arms it so counter intuitive to everything I have known about buying cars over the last 32 years. I guess I'm old enough to lament the good ol days. But we all need to get back to that place where we know that dealers can sell a car for less than msrp and still be good, because like they have always told me, new cars bring them in, used cars are where we make bank. Peace
Hey I still don't and agree wuth you. I'm just giving a different perspective. I'm a consumer too and want to pay the least I can, too. Certain perfect storm things came together to create it as it is now. Things come full circle and I bet we are back closer to what used to be again someday.

However, dealer's that try to make it by being the low baller in my experience often don't make it long term. You have to sustain certain volume levels to remain profitable and if you don't you bury yourself in a big hole dug by yourself. It's never wise when you have a hot commodity to be the one giving it away when the others are taking profit while it's there to make. This doesn't just apply to automobiles.

So I was saying from a dealer's perspective, they being a profit driven business, must make $ when they can, as there are plenty of times that they aren't and are scraping by. It's the nature of retail. Better make $ on things you can, because there are plenty of times that when market conditions are different, that you can't.

Saying that.. there is a balance and extorting people just because you can is also bad practice and those dealer's too will pay one day, as people won't forget it. And when times are harder and they need customers they'll wish they hadn't been that way.

I wish everybody could be fair with everybody. I'm good with them making some $, but also want a fair deal for me. Huge admins, market adjustments, etc. aren't good for me and low ball isn't good for them. I've always tried to pay invoice or so on regular orders, retail or less on specialty vehicles, raptors, etc. orders.

I paid a little bit below msrp on my Bronco order which I felt was fair to both parties considering low inventory on a hot product. I would not have been willing to pay msrp + admin, but don't fault those who did that wanted a Bronco now.

My Hyundai dealer sold 160 units in December (2021). He doesn't have dead money (inventory) sitting on lot. He is selling at or above sticker. This may not be true for all dealers. Interesting times. Just saying.

I heard back today and he said my price is locked in at what it was at the time of my order and that this was effecting new orders. He said some dealers will add it to people's MSRP but they will not be
Thats awesome!

With these continued price increases and them now shutting down orders, everyone with a 2021 in hand's deals look better and better and their resale values just keep increasing. Both will make the existing 2021s retain their value and hold their resale prices high for the foreseeable future.
Right! How insane is it that they raise prices for a month then close the books. WTH..?

" Ford states that they will share additional information on how this impacts current reservation and unscheduled order holders ahead of order banks opening on March 9, 2022. "

I'm reading this.....if you have a VIN your safe from any price increase. It clearly states "unscheduled order holders".

Yeah, there's more to this than Ford wanting some of the sale and dealers hurting because of MSRP...

As others gave mentioned, BELOW MSRP was the norm, and not too long ago. Dealers were fine then and fine now.

It's a hot item and in demand. Charge more and they will pay, as proven by ADMs.

Looks like my Big Bend 4 door build went up $1,000 on the builder. Glad I checked though bc the slide out tailgate table is now available! I'm going to go to the dealer today to add that to my order and I'll check if the original price is still locked in (I ordered end of December 2021).

I placed my order last month and signed an agreement with the dealer that day as well. I just heard back today after bringing this up with them that they would honor the agreement, so hopefully, that doesn't change upon delivery.

I just called my dealer and asked them directly if my price in my build sheet was protecter considering that I just ordered on 1/27/22. He said He talked to his sales manager and I will pay what i signed on the build sheet. For what its worth, he also said that the only broncos that are not price protected (at least for them) are dealer ordered broncos. Hope this helps.

Interesting- Could you imagine all of this headache on a simple mis-communication like that? Ideally that would be great; im waiting for a call back from my dealer...i even have a signed purchase agreement also. Hoping what i saw was what ill pay...GL.

I ordered a second Bronco on 2/4/22 from a local dealer (my first is still on back order), signed a build sheet to formalize the deal, and got it submitted to Ford. Does anyone know whether Ford will honor the price on the build sheet? I'm pretty sure the dealer won't unless Ford tells them or incents them to do so. I read Ford's announcement but am not seeing what I want to see.
