Bronco Neutered at 101mph?

This morning I took my usual drive and decided to see what my 2.7L OBX base has in sport mode. She ran up to 100 like a breeze and then at 101 I felt a very obvious level off and felt as if someone had put the brakes on.

I tried this again after getting coffee and the same thing happen, complete and distinct feel of the car leveling off and not wanting to go faster, for more than 5 seconds I was pedal to the metal and both speedometer (analog & electronic) refused to go above 101 and the car felt like it was in cruise limit control and when you press the gas nothing happens.

all the way to 100 I could feel and hear the engine revving higher and acceleration increasing but when 101 hit it all stopped.

Anyone else have such experiences? I feel like I’ve heard of people going faster but I couldn’t get above 101

I wonder if you can go faster in normal? I know it has a limiter, but it could be tied to modes.

I haven't been above 90 stock, so i never found the limit. I'm normally 70-80 highway

The is a governor on the Broncos that limits the top speed according to the factory tire speed ratings. Ranges from 101-114mph depending on your configuration.

But isnt the top speed reportedly ~130?
