Way too much technology in this truck….Wish the base model was an actual base model, without all the extra crap….Something super simple and reliable

^^Agreed!

Maybe @Ford Motor Company will come to their senses and realize they are missing an entire market segment of us that want something no frills, bare bones with manual hubs, transfercase shifter, and vinyl seats that we can wash out and build how WE want without all the electronics crap…Suzuki Samurai and CJ7 like comes to mind.

Gimme an analog dash and carplay for the maps and music. That is all. I have come to like a backup camera, so there are things I do like. Most of it I could do without.

I had the same warning last night just driving down the road, not a single car, animal, not even a leaf in sight. Scared the crap out of me for nothing.

So I do like some modernization like the idea of manual hubs does not appeal to me 🤪 But I don’t think we need items like an electronic parking brake.

So I'm pulling into my road tonight, and I get the message that my front camera and pre collision assist are not working. Um, dude you are a BASE, you don't have them... ...
Basehead here also.
Frost, etc, will give that alert. Something covering the view up there by the rear view mirror.

I've had it "alert" maybe three times now.
It doesn't bother me; other folks , it does.

Once was on a county road where we were both hogging the center line until the last moment ... avoiding pot holes, normal back roads driving.

Another was at a round-a-bout where for a few moments the oncoming traffics trajectory has them aiming to cross your path until the road straightens out.

It just seems that we are so caught up in electronic everything. A simple light switch becomes a switch to the ecu to a relay to the led bulb. A simple cable operated E brake becomes a signal via switch to an ecu to a servo to pull a cable etc…..Why did we abandon KISS?
Preach it , Brother!!!

Our Subaru's elec parking brake actuator was $700 .... eventually refunded a decade later due to a recall.
The other Subie had a good ol' fashioned lever ...

Would be cool if an aftermarket company started to come out with items such as electronic locking parking brake delete, where some type of lever goes into it’s place to actuate the function…..Wishful thinking so know…..

My pre collision assist came on today, I've got a basesquatch. Someone stopped short in front of me and the chimes and warning came up on the cluster. Is it now standard with all new vehicles?
